Hmm... I'd say it's a tie between Nightmare from soul caliber, sol, ky, or Johny from guilty gear(Behold my avatar!) and cloud from ff7(did I even need to say that? OMNISLASH IS AWSOME!!!)

Ps: I wouldn't chose vergil only because johny fights with a very simmiler style(That I think is better...but maby im just a guilty gear fanboy!!!) I also wouldn't chose sephiroth because in the game ff7...he didn't do too many cool things with his sword(and advent children is a movie). but they are both clearly up there.

i don't think seph should get it. his main weapon lies in getting inside your head....not exactly lopping it off. Dante knows many different fighting styles for rebellion, agni & rudra, nevan(sometimes a sword?). i mean...He picks up a weapon and INSTANTLY knows how to use it (take sparda from dmc1, i mean HE KNEW IT COULD GROW HUGE!!!)that said my vote has to go to....SPARDA!!!!!! he took on the demon army by himself.....he's gotta be good right?

Either Cloud or Sephiroth after watching AC. Seph has the long ass sword and weilds it greatly, but Cloud can duel-weild those huge things... Cloud because he can do things like Onislash Ver. 5.0.

As for Dante and Vergil, neither of them are good enough to shine Cloud or Sephy's sword, let alone be considered the best swordsmen.

is this just videogame swordsman or whoever we can think of?  in anime, two of the best would be kenshin himura and hajimai saito, overall, sephiroth, cloud, dante, and vergil are definately up there.  in other games, samanosuke from onimusha is a good swordsman, and raphael from soulcalibur@ was good.

id say trunks from dbz. the guy can disappear and teleport- the fact that a guy like that wields a sword, makes him automatically a perfectly qualified as a best sworsdman. but i guessfrom the demon family has to be sparda or dante- sparda dfeated an army like you guys said, and griffon says dante might be more powerful that his father...

Well, first, Trunks is from Anime, and secondly, this is swordsmen. Simply holding a sword doesn't make you a swordsmen. He uses it for like 1 or 2 battles before abandoning it, right? By that logic, anyone capable of holding a sword is a swordsmen. Superman might as well win the contest because he has hands, the strongest character in any fiction (he can sneeze and blow away an entire galaxy).

It's like Inuyasha, he wields a sword but is hardly a swordsmen. Hell, they say it in his own series, he uses the sword as a glorified club, if not for the special attacks he'd be better off using his hands.
