Up to Mission 19 and Disappointed About Lack of Dante

So I just killed the large statue w/ Dante and the game is almost over. I know there are only 20 missions.  My problem is that there wasn't enough Dante. I did not mind playing as Nero; it was fun but DMC is synonymous w/ Dante. I don't care if they wanted to introduce a new character to the series. What about the character that created the series?? Angry The little that you do get to play as Dante was spectacular. It left me hungry for more, only to be disappointed when I realized that after 3 years of waiting that was all I was going to get. I mean the scene where he puts on a mini play at the opera house before he fights Agnus was priceless. Big Smile How about letting us play from the part where Lady first times him about the Order of the Sword to when he rescues Credo from falling?? There was a large portion of time where we have no idea what Dante was doing. When the reviews came out for the game, they all said that while you only play as Dante for a small part of the game it is still satisfying. What game were they playing b/c I was left thinking "is that it??" All I'm saying is Dante should have gotten more attention than he did in this game and don't even get me started on Vergil being MIA. Super Angry Now I have to wait 3 more years for the next DMC. [:'(] I have not played the game in over a week b/c I don't want it to end. Lastly, I would like to say I loved DMC 4, the game was beyond expectations and while I haven't finished the game yet I still feel that Dante got a rough deal in this installment. Broken Heart

I disagree.  Because they were introducing a new character, the producers included as much of him as they could.  I think the time we had with him was awesome, and i don't think it was short.  I've played through the game on all difficulties, and I feel more than satisfied with the amount of Dante.  In fact, I actually prefer to play as Nero even though I like the character of Dante more.  Overall, the game was satisifying but not so much as DMC 3.

Same here, even though Dante is one of (if not) my favourite videogame characters ever. But playing as Nero was really fun. But still whil Nero has 13 missions, Dante only has 7 missions. They shoul try to even it out next time or give Dante his own story mode and Nero his own story.

well they couldnt have less missions or the same because they wanted to introduce Nero not just have him as a second playable character i think the goal was to get good with him. everyone is familar with Dantes moves i found it extremely easy to play with Dante but i loved every minute of it. now that people are comfy with Nero and have played a game with him the next one should have more Dante well see i guess

Yes, the lack of Dante was totally daunting, clearly, a lot of people hated it; but it's the same thing I have said before in another thread---They wanted us to get comfy with Nero.

But let's think of it in a different way: Say they named the game an entirely different name, intending it to be an entirly different game, then we see Dante pop into this game, and that would have totally made his short appearance golden, and after seeing his moves here in this new PS3 title, would love to see him in an upcoming DMC game. I think that's what they should have done, but then the change of name would also have brought down the fame...hmm...at least they should have said it was from the makers of Devil May Cry...

Capcom, you need to find a solution. Quickly, cause you nearly flopped.

I think Capcom just dug themselves a twenty meter hole they can't get out of. When and if Devil May Cry 5 is being developed they are going to have to decide who the game will focus more on, Dante or Nero. If Dante becomes the main character of 5 then all the Nero lovers will be disappointed. On the other hand, if Nero is the main character again, then the Dante lovers will be disappointed again. I personally like Nero more for the addition of the Devil Bringer adds to the gameplay, while Dante is just too retro.

Dante has had his fair share of fame, and now I think it's time for Nero to be the main character of the remainder of the series.

Re: Up to Mission 19 and Disappointed About Lack of Dante

Me, I haven't exactly played DMC4, but seeing my bro play it got me into DMC3. I saw Dante in 4 first and I was like, who's that when I started the 3rd one. I was shocked at the age difference between the 3rd and 4th game.

But I gotta say, Dante has had 3 games with him in the limelight, so I'd like to see Nero in it now, but I was thinking... What if there were a twist in the 5th ( If there is gonna be one) what if, instead of playing as Nero and Dante, what if VERGIL came back somehow? That would f*** the game up completelt, I know, but in a way it would be cool.

But, seriously, Dante has grown a bit too old for the limelight now. It really is Nero's turn. But.....

WHERE THE HELL DID NERO COME FROM???????????

i disagree with the whole "Nero limelite" thing. i mean sure hes cool and all,but i PREFER dante. Plain and simple....Neros soul purpose Kyrie! i HATE OVERATED damsel n distress games! NONE OF THE OTHER GAMES WERE NETHING LIKE THAT WHEN IT WUZ JUST DANTE! But i do agree that capcom fucked up ROYALLY by bringn Nero n the mix. They have alot of questions 2 answer bout him and 2 top it off they have 2 figure out how 2 not piss off the dante loyalists or the nero loyalists! Quite a pickle theyre n now. it should b interesting 2 c how they squirm out of this 1.

devilman, ur ryt. I played DMC4 yesterday on my bros xbox an I have to say, Nero isnt the same. They're thrying to morph Dante into another person. I felt like killing him myself. Dante has to stay in the game somehow, but I noticed; people liked playing as Vergil in the 3rd one, and they didn't complain about him not being in the 4th one. But, you are right; capcom are f***ed. They have to think fast to stop the mayjor fans from geeting the possible 5th one and seeing that is Dante isn't in it or has crap playing time and tracking them down and killing them. They really have to get themselves back to the surface.

Yup cuz theyre drowning...BIG TIME! All they need 2 do is make good on their lil discussion bout vergil being "entricle part" n the dmc series. Bring him back and make him have his OWN storyline. Or better yet give him his OWN GAME! U can play as Vergil ALL THE WAY up 2 where u fite dante.(NOT THE FAKE DANTE that fites like vergil either) and after u lose u can fite Mundus. And after that u can play as Nelo Angelo. ALL THE WAY UP 2 WHERE u fite Dante on dmc1. if they actually sit down and did that we'd KNOW 4 SURE wut happend 2 Vergil after he got beat by Dante

Re: Up to Mission 19 and Disappointed About Lack of Dante

People are totally contradicting themselfs on here. Dante has been in the spotlight THREE times and played a major role in the 4th installement. Just because someone as bad-ass as Dante in some aspects has taken over ONE game, there should be all this arguements.

Yes Dante is DMC, but he has to step down at least once or twice within the series, otherwise it would get a bit repetative with just "Im gonna kick your ass while riding this rocket into your face casually". Nero brought new emotion to the game. And this game is 'flopping'? What are you smoking!? 2 million units of this game were sold, and im willing to bet theres a higher majority who loved Nero than disliked him as seen in many forums and in college. I loved Nero as much as Dante and sometimes more in other areas.

No Capcom havent gotten themselfs into any mess at all. Nero will be in the next game more than likely, the direction of Neros story could be taken anywhere. Since Capcom have HOWEVER gotten themselfs into the predicament of Nero fans and Dante fans, they cannot please both and having both playable is a more reasonable explanation to keep both satisfied. Dante has to step down sometimes.

Re: Up to Mission 19 and Disappointed About Lack of Dante

I some what agree with the fan part but easy solution  they can just simply team them up or put them against each other as for the Game of Devil may cry 4 kickass altogether but easy to recognize that they just made it to have another devil may cry game wich isnt bad considering its still pretty wicked but Dante is devil may cry so if they did put Nero in any other games they would more than likly be enemys

Re: Up to Mission 19 and Disappointed About Lack of Dante

I doubt Nero will become an enemy to Dante. Solution: Have Dante and Nero both playable.

To have Nero killed off by Dante would then upset the Nero fans, so no one can win. Nero topped the game off, and they put him in to put more emphasis on his part, rather than just being there like Lady and Trish on the side-lines. Nero will have a big major role in the game now on his part.
