Hey, great thread thanks for all the information.
One thing that shocked me was the fact that there will be no Style selection. This worries me as it seems to reduce the options available. It was great to mix and match the styles and weapons. Is there really going to be more variety with the devil arm as there was with the styles? Let's see:
Quicksilver: 1 move
DoppleGanger: 1 move
Gunslinger: about 15 moves?
Trickster: 5 moves (dash, air dash, teleport, wall run, demonic leap thing (from ledge))
Sword Master: about 20 moves
Royal Guard: 5 moves (block, airblock, release, air release, ultimate)
So in total that is about 47. Even if you don't count some of the things like air dash / dash and block / airblock because they are pretty similar, that's still about 40 individual moves. Will devil arm have that much variety? I know these are only early days, and so there will be more to do with the arm other than just grab, throw, punch, but still, I don't see 40 things being possible with this control system? How could it be possible? Maximum seems like maybe 10, even then that's unlikely (O, left+O, right+O, back+O, forward+O, jump+O, jump+left+O, jump+right+O, jump+back+O, jump+forward+O). And even then it's all just with the arm, it wouldn't be as varied as the different styles, which are completely different to each other.
My hope is that the different weapons and guns in DMC4 will be so different that it is like playing with a different style, and they will have big differences with each other, and hopefully there will be an absolute tonne of weapons to get. Then it'd work out alright possibly. But still, I think I will miss the coolness of choosing particular swords with master/ slinger / dash etc, those combination choices will just be lost :( What do other people think?
Oh, also... what was the secret announcement thing that Capcom had been promising? Was it just Nero or the Devil Arm, which have been known way before TGS? Or is the announcement still to come?
