    Re: DMC4 Famitsu Scans

I get most of my information from IGNs DMC board and it's users. As I have said before, almost all DMC information flows through there. If there is any kind of news released, it is a cert that one of the users there has noticed, and will bring it to our attention, simply because we have literally hundreds of users flowing past us, many of whom frequent a variety of other boards and games news sites. Our large numbers also mean we usually have access to translators quickly. I think Lobuk is getting his information from another large game board, Gamespot or GAF maybe.

    Re: DMC4 Famitsu Scans

My point in the previous posts was that DMC follows a naming convention that is unique if not define anything.

As nero angelo means black angel, that was wat he was as were agni and rudra. But nero or nelo kinda represents an already existing character and i feel that it is not unique enough as names were for other characters.

But from greek mythology as posted before, nero is a unique name.so i am guessin he is a new character.Because nero angelo cannot be nicknamed nero.Because nero means black and it is jus an adjective and not a noun.it has to be in conjunction with a noun(angel)  to make sense."Black angel" cannot be simply called "black".It is actually the angel that the name refers who is black.

the names aren't as big of a deal as the characters tho. I mean look at it this way, they can name any of the characters whatever they want. I just want Dante back, give me that n I'm happy.

    DexterXS:

    Latest translations:

-The order/cult of the demon sword/blade was formed by people who possess demonic powers. (half demons maybe)

-Their goals seem to be the same as Dante's, but somehow, they are being brutally hunted down (by Dante apparently) So Neros mission is to investigate this incident.

    - Nero is a sarcastic misanthropist (that is, a world-weary, pessimistic, unfriendly person)
-It was hinted that there might be some connections between Nero and Dante
-Kobayashi said in the interveiw that they wanted Nero to be new, and at the same time familiar to the gamers. The reason why they decided on a new protagonist is because DMC4 is on a completely new plateform and they wanted to give those new to the series a “fresh start”. But they kept the red outfit and the silver hair as a trademark for the hero of the series.
-They also kept Dante's fighting style on Nero so the old fans can have a easier time getting use to him.

I have held my tongue but it is opinion time.

    Capcom makes me sick.

I knew it. I knew the horrible truth all along. I knew it the minute “Nero” was announced, and I have been saying it for at least the last few hours. Capcom is totally redesigning DMC for next gen. DMC4 is designed to be as attractive and accessible as possible, to newcomers and noobs. What about us? DMC fans who have been loyal to the series for years, what attention are we paid? What respect is given to the series, the characters, the story, that WE love? This is complete BS. Oh, but I am of course ecstatic that our “new” main character is a complete rip off of Dante, with all his moves, the same fighting style, similar weapons, and lets not forget, the white hair and red clothes. Because, ZOMG, THEY are a staple of the series. And I am so glad that all this was included to help US access the game easier. The ones how have been playing and supporting DMC since the beginning. How goddamn considerate of them! Absolute scum. DMC is dead, long live DMC eh?

Oh and PS: I am expecting the confirmation of a 360 release any day now. Only going multiplatform could mess up DMC this bad.

wow man ur way to obbsesive, seriously welcome changes!

    Re: DMC4 Famitsu Scans

he is not obsessive, it's just that this has always been a trademark capcom sony series and to see it take a wrong turn, even getting rid of Dante or going to 360, it's all bad, I understand him and if u can't atleast see his point of view, then r u really a fan? I'm just defending my own feelings cause I'm with him on that 1. I dun like this Nero guy, it's bogus n gay that their making Dante an enemy because that's saying that Dante can be beaten by some punk unless he switches sides or something, and with the power of sparda, that should not be the case. Dante should in all rights be the strongest person alive in the DMC universe, Demons and Angels excluded. Dante is a halfling and a descendent of the one who overthrew the king of hell, and being able to inherit his fathers powers should automatically render him near invisible, especially with as much practice as he has had. consider how strong Dante is in 2 which is why the game was so boring. Dante is crazy strong and we all noe it and that's how we love him. maybe the demons should evlove to challenge him, but some punk who is probably full human and can't transform can't beat Dante especially with doppleganger and quicksilver. come on.

    Re: DMC4 Famitsu Scans

Honestly, I think a few of you are missing what's right in front of your eyes. Dante hasn't been axed in the slightest and from what I can see in the trailer, he features just as much as Nero in the storyline. However, it seems they've switched his role because now he's hunting down humans (see the slaughter of the people in white who attack during the panic that ensues after Dante 'interrupts' mass- demons would not go down so easy... and would get a flashy fight in the cut scene) and facing off against the hero. Dante seems very much the main character only now he's the villian, which considering how alike Dante and his oh-so-kind brother were (are?), that isn't too much of a jump at all.

Nero's dialogue 'Now I know, this place was made for sending demons like you back to hell!' is very interesting. So Dante came from hell this time (?) and from what we know of Nero, he's involved with people who want to summon up Sparda... Well I think it's safe to say poor Nero got a little more than he bargained for. Dante's motives are sure to prove very interesting and we know that come DMC2, he's back to hunting demons so... why would he do what he's doing now? For Lady? Trish? Vergil?

Dante himself also has his fair share of interesting dialogue. 'Come back to me and I'll let you go' is quite interesting and shows that there's more to their connections than silver hair and a love of red and black leather. Capcom knew what they were doing when they focused on Nero instead of Dante. Like they said, Dante (and Vergil) really peaked in the last game and, DMC4 looks to show us Dante in a very different light indeed. I for one look forward to seeing what they can do with this ^^

    Re: DMC4 Famitsu Scans

Firstly, this topic is old and out dated now, and so is the discussion within it. Back when these comments were made we had nothing to go on but a single article which hinted at bad bad things. There was nothing "right in front of our eyes", the TGS trailer was a whole 2 weeks away.

Secondly, Nero's comment was made by Nero. i.e it is not canonically accurate. Nero sees some guy with abilities beyond any human smash through the ceiling, brutally murder a high preist and a unit of human gaurds. He ASSUMES Dante is a demon or something like it, hence his line about hell. Same as Ladys DMC3 comments. And the actual line is "Now I know, this hand was made for sending demons like you back to hell" BTW. Also, there is no evidence that the cult aim to ressurect Sparda, that was a fans theory that he stated as fact, and so it spread like a disease. In actuallity, we have only heard that the Order worship Sparda and fight demons in his name.

Also, Dante's line is "Give it back to me, and I'll let you go" And Kobayashi has since stated there is no story based reason for Nero looking like Dante. It was a design decsision. (How lame is that? lol)

    Basically: shush.

    Re: DMC4 Famitsu Scans

I think that the idea of attracting new fans with Nero is kind of silly.  I don't believe that the reason why people aren't fans of DMC is because of Dante.  So changing the main character's name and coat is hardly going to make them go 'wow, i love this game now'.  All it does it infuriate existing fans.  Nero's fighting is the same kind of fighting from DMC3, so if you didn't like DMC3, I don't think it'll attract you now.  Also we haven't been given enough information about the story yet to know if the story is what might attract new people to the series, but I really don't think this will be the focus of the marketing.  I think the advertisements and TV spots for DMC4 will be like HIGH OCTANE BATTLES!  SWORD FIGHTS!  KILL STUFF AND BE AWESOME AT THE SAME TIME!  KILL YOUR FRIENDS!" just like other action / swordy games.  So to the new-comer, they might not even REALISE that it's not Dante.  Even game-based websites assumed that Nero was Dante for a long time...

    Re: DMC4 Famitsu Scans

Well I think they just want someone new 2 see what they can do on the PS3, but that's just me. I think that they wil end up giving Nero a DT or something like it because of the character design screens on the DMC 4 website. I hope not because in my eyes that means that they're trying to put Nero on the same level as Dante. but we'll just have to see. I don't believe for a second that Dante is just going crazy and atting this group for no reason. I believe if anything Nero doesn't know what he's into and Dante realizes the dark secret behind this "Holy Order" and tries to put a stop to it

    Re: DMC4 Famitsu Scans

we've "almost" maxed out all the possible ideas and theories regarding DMC4...

all we can do now I think is wait and be patient...

they can even scarp the whole project for all we know and create a new one from scratch and still we can't do much about it but "WAIT"...

CAPCOM is "teasing" and we are teased people...Big Smile
