Think about it. This is what they should have done in Special Edition. You play as Vergil (or in this case, Nero) and you fight a CPU Dante. Now, considering his legendary arsenal of weapons. moves and over-all confidence, it may seem a bit one sided towards Dante, but that's the fun. You play until you get better, and then you kick ass!

What do you think of the Co-op Mode I suggested earlier? Or the Deathmatch Mode? That'd work on a Network Connection or on Net Play, though. The Deathmatch Mode could be Net Play! Think of the possibilities! 4 on 4 Devil May Cry Capture the Flag! Obviously, you'd have all characters and costumes, too...

 For all anyone knows, Nero could be a blood relative of Dante(his son come from the future, but with 0% memory; clone; illegitimate brother?!). It might as well be the passing of the tourch and we'll just have to go with the flow. I don't entirely know what to think about DMC4, but I know it could end up being a success story. We'll just have to see, I guess.

Hey all, I'm staying at a freinds house this weekend, so my net access is limited. Still, thought I would stop by to deliver some minor updates.

I had someone translate the "special interview" vid on Famitsu.com, and apparently they don't reveal anything new in the vid, in fact say less than in the article itself. They mostly dance around the real info, and just talk about how exciting working with Nero is, how his arm will have various powers and uses, that Dante has been used to death and is no longer interesting (don't make me sick into my own scorn...) how Neros story and character will "develop" throughout the game (possible hintage at realisation of his identity? who knows) and then just hype DMC4 a bit, with the ole "more story, more weapons, next gen, 60 fps, look forward to TGS" blahblahblah

Oh, and I now have 2 translaters claiming the Famitsu article refers to Nero as Dantes twin (and in japanese the word apparently implies the number 2, as does the word twin in english tbh) but this MAY just be referring to the fact they appear similar... They also tell me the article not only refers to Nero as "Nero Angelo" but then discusses at length that "Nelo" was the mistranslation and it was always meant to be spelt Nero (although I beleive here, it would still be pronounced "NeLo") So according to these translaters, the guy is deliberately named after the DMC1 demonic knight... I would say we are close to Nero=Vergil confirmation.

Oh, and as a final note, apparently Game Informer releases a month before the month on the cover, and is expected not in October, but September (that is this month for those not in the know ;) ) and an IGN user who works at Gamespot says that he expects the issue in 1-2 weeks. Subscribers may get them next week, depending on where they live (GI subscribers often get the mags at odd random times, it isn't consistent) So we can perhaps expect 10 pages of DMC4 pics and info, in good ole doesn't-need-translated english, before TGS! (It is likely we will learn there, if our DMC4 will use "nero" or "nelo")

Dante's not old and boring!!!!!!  -_-

And now Nero is confusing me and I don't like to be confused when it comes to DMC!!!!! And now I have all these questions to ask!!!!!! *sigh* -_-'

Uh...but someone said Nero is actually younger then Dante so it can't be Vergil. PEOPLE we just have to wait until TGS to get concrete info...Until then Nero is probably a rival Devil Hunter for all we freakin know.

We probably won't know who Nero is or what, if any relation to Dante he has. I still can't see him being Vergil. Like Vampi pointed out, he's too young. Far too young. He looks about the same age Dante was in DMC3. Vergil would have had to stopped aging for more than 10 years (probably more so than that because Dante looks much older than he was in DMC1). And even then, he looks allot like Dante and Vergil, but still different. Vergil and Dante are identical twins, if he doesn't look exactly like Dante then I can't see him being Vergil.

But only time can tell.

Hmm, I'm not entirely sure what to think about this. Don't get me wrong, I'm open to the idea of the Nero character and the plot that has been presented to us thus far, but as many people have stated, Dante not being the main character is a bit a strange.

But Nero seems to be very simular to Dante (from what we can tell so far) so it won't be that much of a change. I guess we'll just have to wait until further informaiton is presented to us.

Dante old and boring...get over yourselves, Capcom! Besides, any game, sequel or not, needs accessibility to all players, new and old.

Anyway, Dante has that 'main-character-look'. And it's not coz he has been the main character for the last three games, but coz he just has that look, ya know?

Now, about Nero/Nelo...he definitley looks younger than Dante, so that rules out the possibility of him being Vergil. And, speaking of which, I don't think Vergil even makes an appearance! Nero can stay, but Dante has to have a major role, not some 'mysterious bloke' role. That really pisses me off when that happens...

By the way, does Nero have two guns? Like Dante (copy-cat ****!)? Coz all I see is that he owns one gun, and that's a Revolver...

well things like these are not new...

maybe its like a side story of some sort... take a look at Tenchu: Fatal Shadows, Rikimaru (main ninja character) is out of the sceen bcoz of the time line when the story occured... also check out Castlevania: COD wherein you play as hector different powers and abilities than the main staple character of a belmont, though a belmont is present but just as a supporting character. Again its bcoz of the timeline wherein the story occured...

bottomline is Dante might not be the main character here in DMC4 coz of the timeline the story occured, I think that capcom is trying to hit "lots of birds" in one stone with this. Why you ask? well think about it...

For "OLD" fans like us:

1) It is said that the story occured between DMC1 and DMC2 right? it could explain why dante became lame when the story hits DMC2.

2) Maybe they wants us to have a fresh new look at the series in general (same as what they did with the megaman series, making X, zero, etc...)

3) The worst scenario is they want to replace dante as the main character (hopefully not!!!) and they are just giving us an "exit view" of our beloved hero... (curse them if they do!)

For "NEW" fans:

1) Get them at par with the "old" fans of the series. (dugh!)

2) Give them a bit of perspective on who the "REAL" hero is on the series. (maybe DMC5 would be dante again as the main)

And all of the other things that we can actually dish out...

 

So all in all I hope this is just somewhat of a side story and our "heroes" (dante n virgil) will be back on track for the next DMC...

Frankly, the game is looking good! And I can't wait to get my hands on it...

I'm started to get a little offened by the whole "Capcom is offending us old fans by not having Dante be the main character". I'm an old fan, and they've been offending me by "not having Dante as the main character" ever sense DMC1 ended. In both DMC2 and 3 Dante's nothing more than a shell of his former glory, it sucks, yeah, but the games are still playable, and in the case of DMC3, still really good.

Dante hasn't been the main character sense DMC1, only characters that share his name. There's nothing different here.

Perhaps Coal is who I thought needed a place in DMC, perhaps he is Sparda's nephew....

You know, I have got the wierdest of feelings that Nero is actually Vergil reborn! I mean, he did get killed by Dante in DMC1, so we couldn't write it out that he could have been either reborn by some magic, or cloned by those sect guys, because they need the blood of Sparda and Dante ain't that easy to capture. You know, when I said that, it actually would make quite allot of sence, do you think not?

I'll be honest, I have been firmly avoiding participation in all the speculation and discussion going on, but given all the information I have collected over the past week, I would say that Nero is at least deeply connected to Vergil on some level.
