If DMC2 were to be remade, what would make it better?

Let's play a what if game and try to make DMC2 into a better game (now that you played DMC1 and DMC3).

-The combat system should have been more free flowing like DMC3's.

-Guns should be weaker, they are afterall meant for support, not  as your main weapon.

-Unique weapons.  Leave Rebellion but get rid of the other two swords and give Dante two or three new weapons (fire, wind, and ice)

-A fleshed out story like DMC3 has.

-Forget the seperate playthroughs, feature Lucia in the cutscenes, but make her an unlockable character with her own unique weapons and abilities.

-Keep Trish as a hidden character (DMC2's only redeeming feature).

-Bring Sparda back.  Hello, we got Sparda in DMC1 and DMC3, this should be a constant in every game.

-Vergil should always be a hidden character even if he has nothing to do with the story.  People love the way he plays in DMC3SE.

-Diversify the enemies some more.  Instead of multiple types of the same enemy, use one type and bring in some new enemies.

-Ramp up the difficulty to match DMC3SE:
~Easy, Normal, Hard, Very Hard, Dante Must Die, Heaven or Hell

-Secret Missions should be challenges like they are in DMC1 and 3, not "clear the room of enemies."

    That's all I got.

Yeah it should have a better story and should definitely be harder. You basically summed up everything I would want. If only someone could go back in time and tell Capcom all of the problems DMC2 had. Then they would make it better.

Re: If DMC2 were to be remade, what would make it better?

My list in addition to dwarfkicker's:

    - Rework the voice acting in addition. Drew Coombs for Dante, competent voice actors for Lucia and Arius.

    - Tie DMC1 and 2 together in terms of story.

    - Rework/completely replace the levels. Would likely completely redo the blue orb things that had to be wailed on to unlock things.

    - Likely give the boss' the gift of speech and a story connection rather than them appearing from nowhere and attacking.

    - Would rework all the bosses as well as omit/replace some.

-Replace the sounds completely. E&I should sound like E&I and Dante shouldn't sound like he is wearing women's heels.

-Redo the music, a mix of classical and contemporary in line with DMC1 maybe a DMC3 style vocal track or two but just for the credits or something.

-Omit the sub machine guns, fairly worthless weapons and not stylish enough.

-Clearly defined and useful moves. Maybe a style system or at least a move set assigned to the weapons.

    -Omit the amulet/heart system.

-Redo the devil trigger system more inline with 1 and 3. Omit the desperation mode.

I would rather have Capcom not remake DMC2.

If they remade it I would think that if they left it to the team that knows how to do DMC then it'll be better. That was really the only mistake they made.

Re: If DMC2 were to be remade, what would make it better?

I'd say include the style system with new styles, but I'd rather have the style system be exclusive to DMC3.

I'd also like to see another type of laser weapon to be used.  (Not just Trish's underwater only laser gun).  I loved the artemis weapon in DMC3, and the Nightmare Beta in DMC1 (that is if you are playing as Super Dante).  Maybe even build it as a rapid fire weapon, or a duel wield weapon.

I would also completely scrap Lucia.  Then use Trish as a replacement, and keep Vergil as a secret unlockable character.  That way the story would make more sense, and be better connected to DMC1.

I go with legendary sparda because the story line in dmc 2 it doesn't even make sense. so why should they remake it.

The camera angles made dante look like a bug that I once tried to swat off the screen. Remake the angles like DMC3!

Re: If DMC2 were to be remade, what would make it better?

-Completely rework the entire fighting system, I feel like I'm fighting in slow motion compared to DMC 1, 3, and 4.

-Keep the look of the Devil Trigger, and perhaps the system of it, but allow a Super Character to be playable for infinite DT (That's always fun, lol)

-Massively ramp of the Difficulty/fighting styles of the monsters, and perhaps the monsters themselves, DMC2 on Dante Must Die is easier then any other DMC when played on Normal/Devil Hunter mode.

-The addition of more or replacement Devil Arms/Guns

-Add some actual plot to the story instead of continuing the DMC tradition of making the game about someone opening a gate to hell and killing everyone.

I know a lot of what I said has already been stated, but I think those are key things that would make the game much more complex and fun.
