Hey, let's just take it easy here. Blue, NerosDevil and Ken, all of you over-reacted a bit. This is only a debate about one game, don't take it deadly seriously.

And that is why I try and stop the thing Entirely, Had I seen this before, and some one was insalted and the other didnt bother to build onto it, I would have mearly Asked the other memmber, to knock it off...

I was at work at the time, and when I got home I took a look, and I thaught I saw a heated argument starting to form. so I Tried putting an erly stop to it. If I "Over did it" Wich I dont really think I did. Il say Im sorry, and Il take a closer look into things before Telling everything and everyone to knock it off and get back to the topic.

But Enoph on the matter, it seems its already taken care of. ...

Re: Up to Mission 19 and Disappointed About Lack of Dante

I see both sides of the thread subject here. One says Nero has the right for more limelight because Capcom is introducing a new key player here. And the other side says Dante IS DmC and he should have gotten more stage time.

I understand Nero needs more time so we get comfortable with his controls, story, etc. But I still have to say I expected much more Dante than about 8 missions. Dante was easier to own with and I had much more fun obviously. But we cant help but want more of the poster child. Even though I'm a Vergil fan, I'd rather be Dante at least half the game compared to a Nero majority. They really should have split the game 50/50 to be fair.

Re: Up to Mission 19 and Disappointed About Lack of Dante

Yep, i agree with Cobalt on this, 50/50 would have been alot more fair in the DMC4 game. You really do need to give Nero a chance to show you what hes really made of, and 1 game isnt gonna show that. We have 3 DMC games based on Dante, does it hurt so bad that Capcom made one DMC game based around someone else? I really dont see the problem in it, especially since Dante has always gotten the attention, honestly, that can get borin since we know alot more about Dante, and so little about other Characters in the DMC series like Nero and Vergil. And in DMC5 they will have more of a chance to show you bits and peices about the connection between Vergil and Nero. So, in conclusion, we have alot more knowlage at our disposal then we do about Nero and Vergil, so we should give them a chance to reveal more to satisfy our hunger of DMC knowlage. Even im a little disappointed because i think they could have let you choose to play Dante half of the story or Neros once you first beat the game, but i dont know if that was an option.

Re: Up to Mission 19 and Disappointed About Lack of Dante

If you take into consideration how much Dante has presented the series with, there is only a limited amount of information DMC can show about Dante before beginning to get dry and lack ideas for newer game installments. Dante has his own anime, manga and game all primarily based around him. Kobayashi said that, himself, even they feel that while Dante is a huge part, they also feel that to continue filling the game with newer ideas,  then the series can have a prolonged lifespan. I myself would like the series to continue as much as possible.
However, Dante is the series, hes made it what its progressed into over the years, and a game lacking him will make me sad and miss his humour. However, I love Neros character just as much; i dont see him as a clone, unless your just blind to explore who he was more. I took quite a shine to Neros character in all honesty, because he brings new emotion to the game, Dantes personality couldnt flesh out the love aspect in the sense Nero did. Not to mention a new gameplay mechanism and overall; a newer feel. As an older DMC fan, playing since DMC1, im willing to change, and not remain stubborn and demand the fanservice side which alot of people seem to confide to, which primarily contains bringing Vergil back. I dont mind Vergil, but hes not as major as say Dante or now, Nero as he has been percieved by others. Kobayashi seems to follow what fans want, and following what fans want usually ends up a mess. Natural progression is better; as choosen with Nero; instead of sticking to the traditional fanbase needs.
People really need to give Nero a chance, not refer to him as a Dante clone and toss him aside blindly only wanting Dante or Vergil, yet again to battle like DMC3 which has been done. Once Nero has been fleshed out and given more time, im sure he'll become more likeable, more on the negative side, the older fanbase will despise it and yap about how hes been given too much attention.
Theres too many possibilites to take the series in many directions and id like to see more progression with Nero as from now, while still including Dante.

Re: Up to Mission 19 and Disappointed About Lack of Dante

I really think Capcom needs to get a little bit of order in their fans. They really do need to say "Hey when you make games, do what the hell you want, but were making Devil May Cry the way WE want to" Becuase then we have a bunch of Dante or Vergil fanboys asking "HEY WHERES DANTE?" or "WHERES VERGIL?!" hey you dont want to play as Nero? ok go play DMC 1-3. I have my own question for you guys crying about Dante: how does it feel to want? you have the anime, mangas and the previous installments of DMC to use Dante all you want. The thing with alot of people is they cant take any change in their lives, you make one change to the system and they tear it down. Then know what happens? the entire thing goes down with it. So if your going to want to just rip Nero out of DMC your probobly going to rip another huge whole in the DMC world which will leave even more questions unanswerd and you will be even more unhappy with the game. Then you will have even more to complain about, so let Capcom do their thing. Like ND says you can keep Dante in the DMC universe (he's not going to die out) Capcom isn't going to make him dissappear.

Re: Up to Mission 19 and Disappointed About Lack of Dante

    Agreed.
In all honesty, DMC fans are some of the most stubborn and unwilling to change circulating around a game ive witnessed. Say the series continued to...say maybe DMC9, your telling me wouldnt get at least a little bored and tired of the repitition placed throughout such a prolonged game? Do DMC fans want this game to even continue? They seem to be stuck in a mental notion that Dante and Vergil are the only way forward, when logically, newer ideas and thoughts make it fresh and able to continue. They seem to be afraid that Dante will be killed off. Thats pure nonsense. Capcom arent THAT stupid to know that wont appeal to the older audience and contain laughs and awesome scenes depicting Dante within. As for Vergil, they should be grateful that he wasnt officially announced to have been dead. I wouldnt be bothered either way, because he wasnt anything as important as Dante or Nero now to me. He seems to be the series returning villan for each installment, like an enemy in Legend Of Zelda with Gannondorf or something. Hes obviously going to return, but Vegil has only come back due to fans, and fanservice is irratating, because thats usually the core to f*cking a series up and becoming annoying from moaping fanboys not getting what they demand.
Ive been a fan since DMC1, and im willing to change and try new ideas, i liked Nero, or loved his new character and he has a huge potential to carry the series on alot of stories and gameplay wise. Id love for him to be a protagonist once more along with Dante.
Demonic Soul, your accurate in the response to mucking the storyline up by ripping it out since Nero has been a star in one game. Let Capcom progress with wheres the story is leading and give Nero a damn chance.

Re: Up to Mission 19 and Disappointed About Lack of Dante

lol. All I can say is "lol". Its not the fact that we are deadly stubborn, its just the fact that some "cocky, arrogant kid" came on the scene that wasn't Dante. It was alright in Devil May Cry 3 when we had Dante acting brash and cocky, but when some "newb" who we haven't seen before comes in and does it; thats where most of us draw the line.

I'll be completely honest; when I heard that Nero was going to be the main character, and continued to hear things like Nero is going to occupy 60% of the game, I got mad, because it felt like Capcom were actually drifting away from the whole point of Devil May Cry - which I thought was Dante. It sickened me to see Dante actually out of the spotlight. I was mad when I saw a lot of the major announcements for Devil May Cry 4 - some of which include multi-platform, Nero being the main character, Vergil not being in it, etc. It just felt like a never-ending bad news cycle.

But, Nero has surprised me in this game and he has turned out pretty good, and it would be a bit repetitive telling the story from Dante's point of view all the time - continuously, it was a freshen up for the series in my eyes now. I accept the fact that Dante can't be the main all the time.

Re: Up to Mission 19 and Disappointed About Lack of Dante

The "stubborn" comment wasnt particulary aimed at anyone other than those who take DMC to extreme lengths; not allowing anything other than Dante or Vergil to be accepted. I love Dante, it wont be DMC ever without him, but Nero has now entered and will have his own attitude to contribute towards the story. Nero being who he was potrayed as, gave us insight into that hes arrogant, though slightly witty, and extremely protective over family, i dont think a new character could have been entered any other way unless they seemed rather dull. I wouldnt like a brown haired, green eyed boring character, then i would throw a fit.
Nero was interesting, and has sparked alot of mystery concerning the DMC universe and Sparda; putting questions forth. Im really accepting of change, at least to explore newer mechanisms and a general feel; instead of the usual environments like gloomy builds and castles. Continuing say maybe to DMC7 only with Dante and Vergil having battles would slightly bore me. Nero can flesh out aspects that DMC couldnt without him. DMC4 was far from dissapointing me.
