The smell of gun smoke and blood fill my nostrils. Are they dead yet?
My boots crunch against the pebbles on the floor. My eyes darting
around the scene. All appeared quiet, one of those too quiet moments
though. The air was thick, hot, and reeked of something akin to ass. I
scratched my head and looked around once more, nada, no one in sight.
With something of a sigh of relief I sheath Rebellion and go on my way.
Walking up and up this damn tower, that's all I have been doing for I
dunno, six hours now? I can tell you one thing is for sure, this ain't
easy. Then again, Verg never liked simple things, not saying I do but,
he can get ridiculous sometimes. The sound of demons raking at doors
resounded through the halls. ***, how many asses have I kicked today,
tonight, actually I am not even sure what time it is. Everything looks
dark, but then again given the place I am in I'm not too surprised. An
hour passes, and I've been doing the same thing over and over for each
level. Hell if I could I would just bust up through the top of the
tower and call it a day, go home kick back a beer, you know that sort
of thing. The kind of stuff that doesn't involve a brother hellbent on
some sort of bizarre agenda. I go in a door, kick some demon ass, find
some gem that's a key to something, run circles again, fight over sized
fiends, rinse and repeat. I mean damn, at the risk of sounding lazy
this is just too much. Seriously, if Vergil wants to fight me, then he
should just come get me himself. ....Well no, he wouldn't do that. If I
know him, he's standing at the top of the tower looking all badass,
feigning some sort of 'deep in thought' look. While I am getting my
coat scratched and cut up. Ah, well actually forget the coat, I am more
worried about getting my limbs ripped off right now.
"Anymore of ya? Come on, I've got ALL day." I yell out down the next
corridor. Nothing. Well that's good, because I wasn't looking forward
to cutting up anymore idiots. I try to keep my mind preoccupied to keep
from getting too bored. I kind of wished I had music, like an iPod or
something. Blast The Scorpions while laying waste to demons. I'd pick
'Rock you like a Hurricane', because that's what I appear to be doing.
Knocking these suckers for a loop. Or maybe I'd get some Pantera going,
or a little bit of Alice in Chains. But knowing my luck the thing would
get busted up during the fight. I ascend up another flight of stairs, a
long flight of stairs. Now where was I? My eyes darted left to right. A
long path was opened up before me, but the door was sealed shut. I
swore under my breath, of course nothing is ever easy. A scraping noise
comes to my attention and I whip out Ebony and Ivory, springing into
action, guns blazing I start firing at a set of statues.
"***!" I barely dodged a fire spell. All right, they wanted to play
for keeps, I could do that. Flipping behind them I put my guns away,
and whipped out my sword in one fluid motion. I continued my relentless
assault on them. Took a lot to kill the bastards, but I finally
managed. Not without getting charred a few times. A glint caught my
attention and walked over, jumping a small fence into some ankle deep
water. Devil Star, and thank god because I needed one of these. A door
up ahead creaked slightly, I could see a small light through it.
"Invitation...?" I quirked a brow and opened it cautiously. There was
a round ball filled with bones hanging from the ceiling. Well wasn't
that cute, these people needed new decorations. There was a shimmer
admist the bones, a key most likely. My sword still out I whacked and
hacked at the iron cage. It swung back and forth, and around me, almost
knocking me on my face. Annoyed, I swung one more time and it burst
open. I picked up the key, and looked around. The door slammed shut and
I rolled my eyes.
"Great..." I sighed, annoyed, and looked as fifteen goons popped up
from the air. Well this should be no problem, they'll be a cinch to
take on.
An hour later I think I ate those words, the fuckers were a problem
to take on. Especially when Greed popped up and really started messing
with me. I wiped some blood from my brow. All righty then, I have the
key, I am healing slowly but surely and....oh lord there are more
statues.
"You know what, I'm just tired of this." I said under my breath and
weaved in and out of them, not wanting to fight through them any
longer. Dodging more fire I slammed the key into the door, and waited.
Don't tell me this isn't the right one, because if that is the case I'm
going to beat someone. A few minutes passed and the large door creaked
open revealing a moonlit path before me. There we go, that's all I
wanted was a way out of this tower and to Verg. I walked along, the air
was clean and very calm actually. A total contrast to the inside of
that hell hole. Up ahead another door, I open it and there is a path
looping up towards a staircase. Vergil is up there, and I go on ahead,
my footsteps quickening. This was it, and maybe we could resolve this
little family issue once I kick his ass.
