Well, there is not a definitive right answer to your question, but I shall tell you what I think.

There are some Vergil fanboys and girls who claim that the only reason why Vergil lost to Mundus was because he was so tired and beaten after the battle with Dante. I don't buy that. Mundus is the King of the Underworld after all, so it is quite obvious that Vergil didn't have the power to beat him. He would have gotten his ass handed to him even if he were at his full strength. So Vergil thought a little too much of himself, went to fight Mundus and lost.

Yea thats true. Cuz Dante couldnt even handle Mundus. he needed help 4rm Trish. And Mundus STILL isnt dead. If Vergil had gotten both parts of the amulets THEN and only then would he have beaten Mundus. And dude of course he wuz tired. after fightn dante 3times and fightn arkham (the blob) lol ur gonna tell me u dont think he wuz tired after ALL that?!

Of course he was tired. But my point is that his tiredness was not the reason why he lost to Mundus.

i think being tired has absolutely nothing to do with it. i mean think about it. Dante ran arround that entire freakin castle, fought 4 bosses 3 times each so that's 12 worthy battles, stayed up for about 24 hours and probably couldn't sleep well the night before knowing that he had a big day in front of him the next day, and not to mention he had no food the entire time so by the time he got to mundus he was tired (mentaly), hungry, and completely exhausted physically. however, this could have been overturned by mundus taking him to the other realm where he could use Sparda DT so that may have energized him enough. of course Dante had more experience then vergil would have had then too. but yeah, having a stronger sword would help a lot.

actually he only fought phantom twice, unless you count the two ambushes

Hey man their demons, I highly doubt they have same type of endurance that we do besides has anyone ever seen Dante sleep. How do we know if he even sleeps!?
