The background in the heart image?  I think I just made a flat black layer, then beneath it made a greyish/blue layer, then deleted from the black layer using the lasso tool with lots of feathering, then merged the layers together and added noise and altered the brightness / contrast and played with the hue saturation until it was dull enough.  The while lines, I just did on a separate layer over everything, did a variety of lines with the stylus then stretched them out and duplicated them and faded them out.

I've been drawing since i can remember; since i was a young child.  I suppose it's about 20 years, i definitely was scribbling by the age of four.  But the work on my website is from the last three years, since leaving university.
