Anthony Kiedis from the Red Hot Chili Peppers. The day I brought DMC3 home, my brother asked me if it was him, and I saw the resemblance as plain as day.

    Re: Who should play Dante?

Ya know Dantesgirl, that's the first time I've seen the only-so-far-logical choice, Mr. Langdon, placed above hollywood A-listers in line for the role...

    Whoot.

I doubt they should get anyone's "girl" to play the role though, dream or no dream. =P

    Re: Who should play Dante?

Supernatural isn't a good show, but that's beside the point.

DMC has the POTENTIAL to be a great movie, however we'll probably end up weeping on the floor over what they've done to our beloved francise.

And NONE of those actors look like Dante, I'm sorry.

    Re: Who should play Dante?

Um, I think I already stated that making it CG won't make it a good movie. Want proof, consider Final Fantasy: Spirits Within. Sure Square pumped tons of money into it, but it failed to deliver storywise (more an american-style B-sci-fi flick then anything befiting the art and brainpower that goes into every installment of Final Fantasy) and flopped, nearly bankrupting the company.

As I have said before, it takes a lot of time and money and effort to make a GOOD CG movie. "The Incredibles" was in production for over two years and went overbudget frequently. Sure, for a computer massive explosions and crowd scenes are easy, but things like hair-physics, shirt grabs, and anything else that requires one object to interact with another in a tangible fashion are very very difficult to do on a computer because a computer can't really see where one object ends and another begins. Because every object and set, no matter how minor, must be designed, modeled, mapped, rendered, placed, lit, and animated, CG movies require lots of time and manpower. Forests have to be created tree by tree, plant by plant. There are programs now that can generate crowds, but if you want them to not all look alike and do the exact same thing then you have to program specs and randomize the a.i. All the characters in any scene have to be designed, mo-capped, voiced, modeled, mapped, rendered, and animated. And it STILL probably won't be any good; the director or writer decides to do something else with the scene and the whole process starts over again.

CG's like anything else: it'll be good if they get a director who cares. Other then that, well...need I say it? It's doomed.

For DMC it would probably be most practical to make a live-action movie with no-name actors (those A and even B listers's saleries would take too-large of chunks out of the movie budget) and save the cash for CGing the big monster enemies and more impossible sets.

    Re: Who should play Dante?

i think the only way to get anyone to look like dante would be to do the movie cg and if you think about they could get one of the voices of one of the games!

    Re: Who should play Dante?

Dreamweaver,i would seem that "i love dante" doesn't read too good and does not understand that
a)making a cg movie like DMC is not impossible, but it's damn difficult
b)god only knows where they could get the budget
c)we already have somebody better than any hollywood dude that could play dante:
REUBEN LANGDON...he's got the same voice, and the same body, not only this, but he's "worked" with Dante already,he knows what Dante's is all about.
if they would decide to go with the CG idea we'd be playing DMC6 before we'd even get to see a f*****g trailer of the film.let's get real people!!!CG makes it easy on some sides, but it would suck on others for reasons that Dreamweaver(bravoooo!!!)perfectly explained!

(Dante to Jester)Thanks! You still piss me of though!

    Re: Who should play Dante?

I'm not saying CG doesn't "look real." I'm saying making CG movies is a very slow process and an impractical one if you don't have Square's technical manpower. Vlad was right; CGing is a very, very SLOW process.

Gaga communications has given DMC a budget of about 40 million. That is not a lot in movie terms. Advant Children cost much, much more then that. I understand that Advant Children has sparked a kind of speculative fever about CG movies, but remember Final Fantasy and Devil May Cry are two very different francises, with different fanbases and different companies that own them.

Again, CG does NOT a good movie guarentee.
