i hate cubes, i have drakengard 2 and its got cubes in a mission and they may be better than these but i still hate them.
and nevan is a horrible boss to fight
Yo, I can help you out with any of that stuff if you like. WIth regards to the controller, as far as I know, you can customize the controls. Can you just specifically not change the shoulder buttons?
To do the circle of swords, you just hold down Square. Then you press either R1+F+Square or R1+B+Square to do the corresponding attacks.
With regards to the cubes the way I do it is:
Go to the centre of the room where there is a stationary block, jump on that. Next to that is a block going up and down, jump onto that. Next to that block is a rotating blocking, but you don't need to jump on it, just wait for the current block to go up. Diagonally across from you, there is another block which goes up and down, and it is easier to just jump onto that when they are close to each other. Then allow this block to take you up, and you can jump off at the 1st door platform.
After you've finished on that level, you can then jump diagonally across to the wide platform on the right of the screen. From there, if you wait, you will notice a couple of blocks coming past. One of them rotates and moves up and down. That's harder to stay on, so ignore that one. Another one doesn't rotate vertically, it just moves around on a horizontal path. Jump on that one. Then, there is a set of four or five blocks together next to the wall which move back and forth, forming a kind of staircase. You just need to jump onto the top one from where you are now. You can try to jump across onto the lower 'steps' and jump up again if you find that easier. Then you can jump from the top of that to the 2nd door platform, and that's it. Once you practice this way, it only takes a few seconds, none of the jumps are really hard, and no lame rotating blocks to worry about. Obviously it's best to have a sword equipped which has the double jump to make the jumps easier.
To make Dante fly properly, you have to buy the action called "Air Raid" for Nevan (guitar). Once you have bought it, you just need to use the devil trigger, and then jump and press R1+X and he will float in the air so long as you have enough devil power left. There is another way, but that's more of a glide rather than flying. With Rebellion, activate the devil trigger, then jump and hold R1+X and Dante will stay in the air for a while, gradually getting lower - I don't think this really has much use in the game, but looks cool.
Against Nevan, she's not too bad once you learn her attacks, and learn when you can hit her. Here are a few simple things:
She has different things she says before her attacks. Learn them so you know what to do:
Audio Cues:
"Get Ready" - Spin Attack - keep your distance and just wait for her to finish. You can easily get a taunt in here while she is going her attack.
"How's this?" - Multiple Lightning Ball Attack - run and jump to avoid them, keep your distance, this is easy so long as you keep moving
*Giggle* - Multiple Ground Shadow Slash - again run away. This is quite a quick attack, so be ready for it, she does a kind of backflip thing too with it.
"Now you will feel tired" Lightning Bolt(s) from Above - Just keep running, and the lightning will always miss you, don't stand still.
*Big Laughter* - Wide Lightning - you need to just wait and then jump, the whole floor is electrified. Use handguns to stay floating in the air.
"Are you afraid?" Lightning Columns - (I think that's what she says) She says this when she is standing at one end of the arena, and sends off either horizontal or vertical columns of lightning. You can just wait in the middle and then use double jump to get over them. Or run from one side to the other. However, as a shortcut, if you have enough demon power you can just use the devil trigger, and run straight up to her and start hitting her, the lightning won't knock you down and will do hardly any damage when you are in demon mode.
Damaging her:
So long as she isn't doing those attacks, you can just hit her with any weapon. Keep after her, and keep hitting her. When she starts to do an attack, follow the instructions to avoid getting hit. The best time to hit her is when she has just done "Get Ready... sugar" because she often just stands there like an idiot afterwards. Once you have hit her enough, her bats will be gone and you can go in and get lots of damage off her. I think she is harmed a lot by cerberus, but Beowulf does max damage to her I think. If you use Sword Master and do the R1+B+O on her, that does tonnes of damage (once she is stunned with no bats).
End of battle:
At the end, she does that irritating thing where she follows you around and sucks the life out of you. Use Devil Trigger, and she cannot get hold of you. Then you can just walk up and hit her to take the remainder of her energy.
