    What do players do?

As I mentioned in a previous message I have just finished DMC1 in Easy Auto mode.

'cause I have the 5th Anniversary 3 Pak I was just going to move on to DMC2.

I am now having second thoughts about doing that.Maybe I should go again on DMC1 on Normal and try and upgrade my ranking before moving on to DMC2.

What did you all do and is there a "Gamers Code " which states that a game enthusiast should really try to get to the highest level of a game before moving on to the next game in a series?

    Re: What do players do?

well, that depends.  that's up to you solomio.  i guess if there was a "code", it'd okay in your case since you you got all of them at once, while most of us got each game as it came out.  besides, since the controls differ alittle bit between games, you could move on to another game without getting too mixed up with the controls.  but like i said, they're your games, so it's up to you.

"So, you want a piece of me literally. Ok bro, come and get it if you can."

    Re: What do players do?

What an odd question lol... I know we are all gamers here, but in this particular context, YOU are the player solomio, it's up to you as an individual how you decide to enjoy a game, if you feel you are done with DMC1 and no longer want to play it, then feel free to move onto DMC2 right away, and if you loved the game and want to play it again with a slightly steeper challenge, then hell, do that. There is no "gamers code" forcing you to do anything, it's all down to you. DMC does have alot of depth and fantastic replay value, but you shouldn't feel forced into playing the harder modes just cause thats what everyone else does, and if you wanted to play the harder modes in order to prepare you for DMC2, I wouldn't worry about that at all, DMC2 is a far easier game than 1, if you can do easy auto DMC1, DMC2 won't be beyond your skill level.

However, at the risk of undermining everything I said about personal choice lol, I will add that completing DMC on its easiest setting is not the way to get the most out of the game, and not really the way it is intended to be enjoyed. Leaving DMC1 now, you probably haven't experienced all it has to offer. I would also be shocked if you have all the moves etc unlocked in the space of one easy auto playthrough. I personally played the DMC games when they were released, so there was no "I'll move on to this one now" available lol, but I didn't stop playing each of them until I had unlocked everything, all the moves, modes, costumes etc etc and completed it on all difficulties (I nearly called it quits during DMD, but eventually picked it up a week later and finished that off) I personally left it there(aside from the occaisonal play session of course) as it felt like I was finished with the game, others might decide to go on playing until they had done all 9999 levels of BP and SSed every mode. (basically shooting for 100% completion rather than settling for "finishing" the game)

But Overall: Stop making it complex! It's simple! Play the game until you don't want to anymore! ;) How long I will play a game is obviously determined by how much I like playing it, not a code of conduct or beleif system. Definitely don't force yourself through things you don't wanna do just to earn the title "gaming enthusiast" lol But at the same time, don't burn your way to DMC3 just to get to the finish line, feel free to take you time to enjoy 1 and er.. 2, properly as well.

    Re: What do players do?

my suggestion is that since 1 is the hardest in my eyes, play 2 until you finish dante must die mode and then move on to easy mode on 3. after that you should have built up enough personal skill to beat normal mode on 1. go back and get through hard mode on 3 before taking on hard mode on 1. after that, you should have gotten super dante. go back through the game and beat all of the modes with super dante and finnish the game. if super dante is not enough, than practice with dmc3 on must die and heaven or hell mode. then, you should finnish off any loose ends. that is the rpg way.

    Re: What do players do?

Thanks alot for your answer backs. You guys are good.....and
    eloquent to boot!
Re: Moves. Right.......with Auto you don't learn any moves really. Just hack and slash and jump about and the good stuff gets done for you. And I'm not too fond of having to use the R1 in conjunction with other buttons to execute special moves.
Re: My game. Yup that's true and it is under different circumstances than what you all went thru.(3Pak)
I do however want to get the most out of the game as I can,....lets face it unless you're gifted, abilities on these games are limited and there are prolly not too many out there who can beat these games at the highest levels.
Zeno A.O.D.'s plan sounds pretty reasonable. What does " rpg" mean ?
I've gone back to a New game on DMC1 in order to get a better ranking and do all around better, finding and completing more secret missions etc., etc., Once I've successfully accomplished that I will go on to DMC2 and follow the suggestions of Zeno and see how it all works out.
So all you guys have completed all 3 in the series as high as you wanted to go and are now waiting for the release of DMC4 is that right?

    Re: What do players do?

an rpg is a role playing game. these types of games are characterized mainly by the fact that they never end and have a high focus on training your character's abilities to higher levels so that you can take on harder enemies. i said it was the rpg way because the plan functions the same way as the stat building in rpg's do. you slowly go from easier levels to harder levels in order to take full advantage of the human's ability to adapt. each time you go to a higher level, it should take the same amount of adaption as it did to go up from the previous level, and thus make everything easier than going from something easy to something much harder. for instance, going from easy auto to normal in DMC1 would be much harder than going to the normal difficuly in DMC2 because DMC2 is much easier than DMC1.

in words more understandable. easy in 1 would be like level 1 whereas normal in 1 would be like level 3 and normal in 2 would be like level 2. why normal in 2 is level 2 when normal in 1 is level 3 is because 2 doesnt have an easy mode and is thus made at easier difficulties. you can also gain orbs to power yourself up much easier in 2 because of the tower that you will get later in the game.

as for your last question, i havent gotten all the way through 1 and 3 because i am cycling through my games so that they stay interesting for a longer amount of time and i dont get bored. i am currently on Legend of Dragoon. i restarted my file on it because i realized that i screwed up in certain places and i couldn't complete the game as fully as i wanted to. i will probably beat the rest of the DMC's when i come back to them. using the same strategy as i posted earlier of course. Stick out tongue

    Re: What do players do?

beat it on normal first, my friend, so you don't get your ass handed to you when you play the next game, and also, so you can see the actual enemies you were suppose to fight. Like on the pride of the lion mission, you weren't suppose to fight death scissors, you were suppose to figth something much harder.

    Re: What do players do?

Alright then. Did DMC1 again in Easy Auto got my time way down to 9 hours and change.

Pulled off a C Ranking this time.

Am quite pleased with that, all things considered.

Will move on to DMC2 and see how I make out.

Thanks again you guys for the tips and suggestions.

    Re: What do players do?

Hey hot shot that's down from 17 hours on the first go round.!

Well sometimes I'd get lost and didn't know where the fk I was and it took me years to find the way out to end the mission. Sometimes I would try to figure out how to get those fkg floating blue orbs in the secret missions, which by the way I can never find and have only won 2 of them.

Anyway I heard that in DMC4 they've got a retarded mode for people like you.Super Angry

    Re: What do players do?

lol you made me laugh the first time and now you are doing it again by apologizing. to tell you the truth, you are the same as my best friend. he doesn't really have a good sense of direction in videogames because he has a certain detatchment from the game unlike me. either way though, if you play like you're not in the game, there are certain advantages to it. just like when you think you're im the game has different advantages. to tell you the truth, your detached style would really help you in counterstrike. your advantage would be more of a thing that will help you assess your enemies better because it's not as chaotic as getting into the game like me. besides, even if i didn't help you, there are a bunch of people who would. im sorry if i offended you by poking a little fun. if you need help finding the secret missions, there are walkthroughs on google. and to get a few of the random blue orbs you will need air raid in the beginning.

another important tip, DMC2 is only bad on the first playthrough. once you get past that and into the tower and higher difficulties, it will get a lot more fun.

    Re: What do players do?

Hi. What's the proper way of saving games.? i mean firstly there are 23 missions but only 10 save banks. And you've said you can obtain for example Super Dante and then go back thru the game as Super Dante. So is the idea to progress, attaining weapns/abilities etc., and then save the games and go back thru certain missions in order to find the secret missions or boost your rank in a mission in which you didn't rank  very well?

What is the SOP? ( Standard Operating Procedure )

LOL to get all the secret missions in 1 you have to back track to certain areas of the game during certain mission it was unnecessary but it helped me beat must die mode with a 1 1/2 bar of health.(I decided not to find all of them)

YAY Ifrit's my father(how does that work, beastiality is disgusting so just think how i must've grown up)

    Re: What do players do?

well, what i do is use one save spot per game because there is no point in trying to take up all of the save spots and then worrying about deleting them. what you want to do is go through on one save spot until super dante because you can just look at a walkthrough to find all of the secret missions. it's best to get all of the missions done in normal mode so you don't get owned in anything harder. when you do have super dante and want to s rank everything, play through the missions and s rank it one at a time before you save and go on to the next one so you can see the all-star photo.
