True, there are similarities between the monkey and the Nobodies.
first, their blood is poisonous. And they wear a mask...However there are differences
The mask itself was described as being bigger than Dante himself. The Nobodies get big...but not nearly that big....plus, they don't REALLY resemble a monkey, they look totally different. It sounds more like a hyena if you ask me.
But this really doesn't matter....I needed to change it for canonology reasons. Since Vergil is not being controlled by Mundus, he needs a legitimate reason to be there. His reason is to gain entry into the demonic realm of course. However his method is by using the tree in the hospital. It feeds on despair, and grows to immensity. It actually bleeds and the blood of the matured tree is a necessary ingredient in the particular spell Vergil needs to perform to open the portal to Hell. The guardian of the tree is Nox Mortis, basically it is the king of the Shade demons (which you confused with Shadow...two different things! Don't worry!) and when Vergil gains control of it he gains control of the legions of literal darkness. Unknown to Dante (or the audience for that matter) is that Vergil NEEDS Dante there to perform the spell, since the amulet allows the portal to be opened, or at least the presence of the entire amulet. So of course after Vergil is defeated as Gilver, he is forced to seek other means of entry into the Demonic Realm.....the next movie will be pick up from there...and a mysterious man named Arkham provides a rather direct method.....
BTW....I had to change one more thing from the book. Jessica doesn't die. For two reasons,
1: I didn't want to leave Grue's younger daughters alone, it would be a really horrible tragedy. I want it to be close call, but not that close.
2: I needed Dante to have a reason to go. If she just died, he wouldn't have a real reason to go. But since she lives, he needs to leave to stay away from her. And this is a real lesson for him, since he pretty much avoids relationships because of that. It'd take a woman nearly as powerful as he to change that.
