Well Ifrit and Alastor are totally different weapons. Alastor is a sword and Ifrit are gauntlets. A better question would be whats better, Beowulf or Ifrit? But if i had to pick i would choose Alastor. I just like swords more than gauntlets.

I've actually begun to like Ifrit recently. I used it in the second Nelo Angelo fight. The move list is extensive enough, and that DT combo kicks all ass. Hell, if you buy Rolling Blaze, even jumping around can hurt enemies. And it's also effective against Frosts.

I've always preferred Alastor, but Ifirit can be quite damaging too if you know how to use it properly, Rolling Blaze and Inferno are a must have though...

I've only played DMC, but I can't wait to get my hands on 2 and 3 so I can try out new weapons as well.

I used Ifrit only on enemies which needed a great amount of damage in order to die
