DmC4 should have been after 2. But since Capcom had to throw another monkey in the mix. Now it would only make sense to continue part 5 by explaining things DmC4 left out. So we will be spending parts 5-7 trying to pick up where DmC2 left off...

I bet there is gonna be one final DMC chronologically after DMC2, but propably the last one, kind of Endgame. Capcom is not in a hurry to go there anytime soon. There are more DMCs to come and the only time this can happen is between 4 and 2. No DMC after DMC2 would be fun regarding Dante's character. So maybe one game for an all guns blazing ending and that's it. For the time being Dante will continue to smile ironically and Nero will grow mature.

dmc is for action what is tomb raider for adventures n final fantasy for rpgs.they will make as much as they can until the game stops sellin.

They should start DMC 5 from DMC 4, then remake DMC 2 by butchering up that storyline (it sucked, anyway!) and then splice it with the storyline where DMC 5 left off.

I mean, look at how far Tomb Raider Anniversary has come.

I'm not even gonna consider DMC2. Besides, almost nobody considers it to be canon because it wasn't related to the other games at all. A remake of DMC2 would have to completely rewrite the storyline, characters; a remade DMC2 may as well be a separate game entirely. I think Capcom screwed up too badly with 2 to save it.

Having said that, I'd continue from DMC4. There's a lot of questions that game left unanswered, not least about Nero's background and how the Devil Bringer came about.
