Re: Monster Hunter, need the guidence of a pro/player

    Alright, Basarios.

    Clear Area 2.

Set up a Pitfall Trap and two Lg. Barrel Bombs. Lure him into it and detonate the bombs in an attempt to blow off the chest plate.

Repeat this as many times as possible. When you have no more traps, start using the explosive rocks. Lay Barrel Bombs around them if you have any. When you're out of bombs, start getting up close. Keep up the attacks, and aim for the chest if you've removed the armour, and he'll eventually fall.

    Now then, Rathian.

Just like the Rathalos, but watch out for Genprey, Ioprey, Bullfango and the three extra attacks.

    Now the Plesioth.

The reference material says it loves frogs. Where do you get frogs?

EDIT: @Drunken Monky: I don't have a Wyvern Marrow or an Elec Sac, but I could make the Redwing Great Sword. 624 Attack, not as sharp as the Great Serpentblade, but still boasts a good Sharpness graph and has Fire element. It'll take a day or two, but I can get it done.

Re: Monster Hunter, need the guidence of a pro/player

That good enough now take that sword to Plessie okay frogs are found in the Jungle level in the area that is marsh like and has cave nearby just dig on the ground by pressing X and hopefully you'll find it

For Plessie use sonic to knock out water and paint it.

Fighting stay the hella away form its hip check and the water spray bring a weapon that has electricity or fire do a couple of hits then run a away from it range. Its like Cephadromew but tougher.

I beat the Basarios! Credit to Zabuza for his/her tactic, because it worked like a charm. And on top of that, I made my first piece of Rathalos armour! The Gunner chest armour, the Rathalos Vest.

Re: Monster Hunter, need the guidence of a pro/player

worked like a charm eh? good to hear. thats my tactic for beating that guy so i figured it would work for you too.

I have had a rather large discovery within the game, when it comes to "Rusted Weapons" I have learned ( by that i mean i figured it out while playing the game myself not from some website or FAQ ) that each ruststone, should be viewed as a set weapon type. by this i mean, say you have 3 ruststones. have only those in your inventory, and push select to arrange items or what ever it is, and it will place the ruststones in order, from top to bottom it goes like this "hammer" - "lance" - "sword" as for the GS i dont have one of those yet so i dont know where it goes. no matter what you do, the ruststone will always be its set type. weather or not it is a rusted weapon is simply by chance. i figured this out when i had two ruststones, and when ever i created a new weapon, what ever one i chose first became a rusted weapon, and i noticed that the top ?????? ( when you go to create a weapon it appears as question marks when u have a ruststone, coz its never certain what u make, it be rusted or not ) was a hammer, and the bottom ?????? was a lance.

I did the "Handle with care" quest 2 times, and none of the ruststones i got was a GS, which is the one that i want so badly. I have 63 Earthcrystals, so another 57 and i will be able to make my Ancient blade!!

so now, im going to continue doing "Handle with care" tomorow, until i get a GS type ruststone.

and as for the quest, its easy as. I did it twice, 1 try each, and once again one run so i was very pleased with that. I do it in a total of 16:25 minutes each, the reason it takes this long is because i clear all the Bullfango before doing the run. the only items i have to bring with me on this quest is 1 Mega juice, 5 pik axes so i can mine for materials and Ruststones, and 1 cool drink. When your up to this quest, tell me here, and i will give you step by step instructions that might be able to get u thru this quest first shot. u might fail first time, but thats only normal. But when you get the hang of what to do, first try, one run, quest complete every time!

I did a little test to see how much my stuff was worth... i sold every item i had, and every weapon/armour. i had to buy a 840z Hunters knife so i could sell my GS, and i had a total of 505,500z, exactly, if u had the 840z for the Hunters knife it comes to 506,340.

before sum1 mentioned Wyvren Marrow and electro sacs.... wyvren marrow is easy to obtian, you get it from Rathalos quests, i got alot of those, and as for the electro sacs, you shuld be able to get them from Gendromes.

and finally, when you said his/her tactic, im a guy, Michael, and no worries for the tactics.

oh wait, i did sum gunning, i dont usually gun, but i was getting into it, i made a Shotgun Emerald or something, wuld have made the blood one but was short on ioprey hides, and i made a rathalos vest, arms, khezu legs, khezu waist, which i changed for a hide belt or something like that, its made from Rath webbing, its the only material u need, and kept my rathalos Helm.  I went on the Capture a rathalos quest, found it easy, the gun is fast, accurate, you can run around while its equiped which was useful, so yeah i liked it. the only thing that i dont like about being a gunner.... is all the space that the amo takes up... and all the materials u have to bring to combine to make more ammo wich takes up more space.... just takes up to much space for me.

Now finally, if you want any more wyvren fighting or hard quest tactics, tell me what Wyvren it is or what the quest is called, and i will post em as soon as i can.

Re: Monster Hunter, need the guidence of a pro/player

I forgot to mention, about the Frogs, they are extremely usefull in the quest, so if u dont have any, dont panic.

Simply start the quest like normal, but before you go into the cave, the area that leads to the cave shuld have Genprey in it. Go over to them and kill em, then go near the water, you should see something near the waters edge that looks like it could be searched, so just go over to it, search it, and it shuld give u as many frogs as u need. so dont waste your time going to the jungle zone to get frogs when u culd get them on the same quest u need them, and u only need like 2-4 so there should be enough there.

and before you enter the cave, drink a "Hot Drink" Since its cold in there and i think the cold drops your stamina very quickly.

i guess i shuld write u a "How to kill" for the plesoith, but i cant right now, i will jump back on the comp tomorow and write it then.

and cool that u made your first Rath gunner armour piece, if u want more, do the Capture a Rathalos quest, since its easy and u get heaps of rath stuff, but use a GS, so u dont waste ammo, and u shuldnt really have to bring any of your own items on this quest, just use whats in the box. I did the Attack of the Rathalos quest just before, took me like 4-5 minutes to do the quest, i used a mega demondrug and a demon flute and charged in with a flash bomb, i had him limping in area 3, so he fled to area 4, i tried to kill him there but he flew off again so i got him shortly after in his cave. but if its Mach ore that u need, then do the Basarious quest over and over. on this quest, mine in area's 3 ( 1 spot ), 4 ( 2 spots ) and 8, 8 is the most important, in area 8 there are 3 mining spots, and u can also mine ruststones there. and when u kill the basarious, if u go on his left side, near the top of his wing, where it meets with his body, there should be like a rock sticking out, when ever i carve that i usally get mach ore for it. before i discovered the miracle of mining in the volcano zone i used to mine in F&H, and i would be lucky to get 1 Mach ore ech quest. in the volcano zone you mine a lot of ores. The easiest way to get mach ore is to do the Handle with Care quest, you get like 5 each time, and ruststones, the quest takes around 16 minutes but its worth it.

i will write a how to kill for plesoith soon.

Re: Monster Hunter, need the guidence of a pro/player

Im back with a how to kill for the plesoith, this one may not as detailed as the others, but should see you victorious none the less.

Before you start this quest, get the usuals, potions, Mega potions ( you will be using Mega's more than normal ones since he hits hard ) bombs, a pitfall trap, paintballs, whetstones and a well cooked steak, and bring what ever else you think you will use. Items that u dont usually bring but need for this quest are Hot Drinks, Frogs, and Sonic Bombs. Sonic bombs are of most importance, hot drinks the same, as for the frogs, i allready told you where to find them if u dont have any.

start the quest as usual, head over to the area that leads to the cave, clear the genprey, grab some frogs, and maybe some herbs if u know where they are to be found in this area. Drink the hot drink and go into he cave, you get the intro, jump down and clear the prey. then throw a sonic bomb over this guy, if its in his "personal space" he should be effected, any where over his body should do the trick, maybe not over the tip of the tail. he should jump onto land, paintball him and attack in either 2 ways. first way is to do melee/gun damage. the 2nd way is to set up a pitfall trap under him and do melee/gun damage or to set up bombs when he is the trap. when you are gunning this guy, it should be a walk in the park, his water attack is in a straight line when on the ground, and he doesn't charge. when melee'ing, when your under him u shuld be able to avoid his tail whip, but you will be open to the body thump move, so make sure your able to roll out of the way. when you do enough damage to this guy he jumps back into the water, when he is running to the water, let him go and take this time ot heal. Also you might get hit and when he jumps back into the water if your clsoe to his body.

he's back into the water, your back to full health, or close enough, sonic bomb him as soon as you can, this way he wont water gun you from the water. if he does go to water gun you, try to throw a sonic asap when he gets up to do it, this should send him flying back on land. do more damage, looking out for his body thump and avoid being directly infront of him. when you do enough damage he will jump into the water and swim away.

this is where you use your frogs, if u look on the map, if he is paintballed you will see he is hiding in the back, go near the waters edge, find the right area to fish, and wait for him to come get the bait. U shuld be able to see him coming on the map, he creeps closer and closer, keep an eye on the frog, since the plesoith doesn't actually get that close to you when your fishing, the frog will get sucked down so hit (X) yank him up onto land again and try to finish him here, if he jumps back into he water sonic bomb him again and keep up the damage.  he will fall rather quickly as long as you can keep up the damage and keep him out of the water.

The fight shouldnt last too long, but u probably wuld have used a lot of Mega potions. Carve him up for 3-4 carves what ever it is, go onto the next quest!

once you have cleared this, you will be far in the game. and be facing foes like Monoblos, so now is a good time to be thinking about your status, your attack and defence, as for attack, you have the Great serpent blade so your doing great! and when you kill the monoblos you will be able to make the seigmund, so thats excellent! as for your defence, i suggest getting full Rath Blade and/or Gunner. Ifi was a gunner, i would allready have full rath gunner.

Re: Monster Hunter, need the guidence of a pro/player

    I've got Ruststones!!!

I've beaten the Basarios twice now, using your tactic. On both occasions, I've gone up to Area 8 and mined a Ruststone. The thing is, neither of them has produced a rusted weapon. The first one made an Iron Hammer, which I sold, and the second made a Blood Shotgun, which I've kept.

Re: Monster Hunter, need the guidence of a pro/player

You probably wont be getting a rusted weapon for a long time.... I went through a lot of ruststones til i finally got a rusted weapon, by that time i figured out the secret to the ruststones, so now i got a few ruststones in my inventory, waiting to get the right weapon type, which is the GS. i will do some more Handle with care quest runs, and hopefully i will get the GS type. then, i hope it becomes a rusted greatsword, if not, i will see if i can quit, load bla bla til it becomes one.

I havnt been playing MH in a while, i got some new PSP games that i have been playing, so they have kept me busy.

tell me when you need  wyvren tactics, or any other stuff that u need help / info on, laters.

Re: Monster Hunter, need the guidence of a pro/player

I've finally beaten the Plesioth, with my own tactic. All that remains is the swamp Rathian. Thing is, it rarely leaves area 5, which is packed with Genprey and Ioprey. They keep getting replaced, so you can't clear the area, but I have a plan. Is the Rathian susceptible to Dung Bombs?

Re: Monster Hunter, need the guidence of a pro/player

    yes

But its not really useful unles your doing something like a carrying mission

where you cant affor to reppel it by force

Just make sur the fumes hit her  as it doesn't have to be direct.

Re: Monster Hunter, need the guidence of a pro/player

Actually, it is really useful. The Dung Bomb, if it hits a wyvern who reacts to it, forces said wyvern to leave the area it's in. Normally, the swamp Rathian goes to area 2. If I clear out the Bullfango, I can fight the Rath 1 on 1.

Re: Monster Hunter, need the guidence of a pro/player

the swamp raithian is pretty easy, infact, every wyvren in this game is easy, now you have had a few runs with the Rathian so you should know what she's capable of, so bring 10 potions and 10 Mega potions and you'll pass this quest 1 go, no wyvren in this game should be able to more damage than 10 potions and 10 mega potions can heal. If they are able to do that much damage to you, you need better equipment and more experience in this game.

The first time i did the quest i just ran up to her, gave her a beating, and she fell in a matter of minutes. Rathian doesn't fly around a lot like the rathalos so using a dung bomb to make her leave an inconvenient area, and kill her in a good one is a good move, the best area to kill her is in area 2, 2 major reasons, the first is its one on one, and if its not, u shuld be able to clear that area, and the 2nd is you can use pitfall traps. another reaosn i suppose would be you have high visibilty.

This fight is easy, all the wyvren fights are easy, the only hard monsters to kill in this game is the Rathalos+ and the Rathian+, which are online only dificulty wyvrens, they are only in the "A Troublesome Pair" quest offline, and you have to kill both in the same quest, i can kill 1 of them easily, but i dont have enough items left for the other. like i said before wait til you get up to this quest, if you cant kill a normal rathian you got no chance against these ferocious monsters.

so yeah, bring items and use them! you should have at least 20 potions, 50 mega potions, 30 flash bombs in your box, if you dont have that much items, get them, prepare for your quests, and make sure you have the nessecary amount of items to see you thorugh it. you shuld never have to use all 10 potions and 10 mega potions in a single quest, even in your first time doing one. if find you are, or getting very clsoe to, you need way more experience.

    --------------------please answer these bellow questions-----------------

What is your total play time for this game? Mine is 72+ Hours. Now having a large total playtime doesn't make you good, you could have played a game for 200 hours and still suck at it. but it does help to see how long you have been playing, and how good you have become in that amount of time.

What weapon and armour are you wearing? If you are using the Great Serpent Blade, then thats good, i used that GS to kill my first monoblos with, so will take you the distance through the game, and what armour armour are you using with the GS? and if your using a gun, what gunner armour do you have for that?

Re: Monster Hunter, need the guidence of a pro/player

ok, as for weapons, you seem to be doing fine, you got good GS's, The Arbelast+ is a good gun i suppose, as for the sword, if you like using them then make a Poison Battle axe, the materials for it are easy to get, but u may have trouble getting 48k.

as for your armour, not very good. for your Blade Masters armour, you should have full Rathalos, its easy as to make and only costs like 52k. the only piece of armour there hard to make is the helm, coz u need a Rathalos wing wich is hard to obtain. the Rath armour has 15 defence each piece, so anything the same as, or maybe a bit worse will be fine. ( there isn't anything better than 15 def each offline, not even Monoblos and gravios )

As for your gunner armour, once again not very good. this weak armour may explain why your getting beat so much, if your defence is poor your life bar is going to drop faster making it harder for you. Dont worry about the elements, they dont do much. Most of the time you wont get hit by any elemental attacks, and if you do, just because you have -10 thunder for eg, doesn't mean your gonna get owned by a thunder wyvren.

yeah i would have full rathalos gunner also. once again, easy to make and only costs int he 50k area.

my armour trail goes like this -- nothing --full v-prey -- full kut-ku-- full steel -- full rathalos. i always went for the best available, even if it meant repeating a quest over and over, and you should do the same.

I really want to get into gunning, i'll make a few Guns, see what one i like, make full rath gunner, and make full Khezu gunner coz it looks cool! :) I want a gun that can use Clust lv2, and other high lvl types of ammo.

Re: Monster Hunter, need the guidence of a pro/player

If you want high-quality ammo, get the Arbalest+. It can use level 2 Clust, Pellet and Crag ammo.

As for armour, I just got the Gypceros cap. Way better than the Battle Cap, and it looks cool! But I know what you mean, I think it's time I started repeating Attack of the Rathalos, I can do that with level 1 ammo, as long as I don't screw up and get pwned.
