I think Dante isn't a gloomy bad ass as much as he portrays himself to be. He is, by all means, a bad ass. There is no denying it there. I think Dante for being what he been through, and being into what he's into made him that way.

I think he's easily annoyed by people who are unaware of the danger that is in the world, and frustrated that he feels he has to protect them from that as well.

 

Other then that, he's definitely a Loki. He has a lot of fun being sharp tonged, mischievous, and cocky,
