Vergil was corrupted because he wanted revenge when he was in the underworld. He saw the 3 eyes of Mundus and said "If my father could defeat Mundus, so can I." and he ran off...the rest is guess work. I think...Vergil was close to dying and Mundus said..."Join me and we can resurrect your parents." so he did and he was corrupted.

maybe mundus made a deal with verge.to give him more power in exchange for his soul.because verge thinks that soul is useless he agreed.but mundus,as all devils do,tricked him with the deal n by taking his soul he also gained control over him.

Look, all anyone knows is Vergil was corrupted after DMC 3 when he fought Mundus. After this, Vergil turned to Nelo Angelo and Dante went to Mallet island. When this happened, Dante (and I say this very loosely) killed Vergil. After killing Vergil he gained possession of both amulets and transformed the Force Edge to Sparda. No one really truly KNOWS what happened to Vergil after this. There are just theories, nothing more.

In DMC 3 at the end of mission 20, Vergil jumps down that cliff in hell because he said that he wanted to live where his father, Sparda, lived. While there he was obviously fighting because you see him standing in a pool of blood. That's when you see him start the fight with Mundus (which has already been stated that he lost). He most likely broke Yamato during the battle (the reason for it being broken in DMC 4). After losing to Mundus, Vergil was enslaved, and turned into Nelo Angelo. He was sent out in DMC 1 to kill Dante in that courtyard but was defeated. He was then of course sent out again to fight and kill Dante and was defeated again, but that time was "killed". When "killed" by Dante, Vergil's demonic body was destroyed but his soul was mostly reincarnated in a new body (Nero). If you think about it, Nero is roughly 20 give or take a couple of years. That's about the same amount of time Vergil's been dead. And if still don't think Nero is Vergil; check Nero's DT mode, that blue avatar thing behind him is Vergil's DT mode for DMC 3.

1st.the pool of blood is not the blood of dead enemies.its the same area that dante enters some time before fighting arkham.n its actually the floor.

2nd.DMC4 IS ONLY 2 YEARS AFTER DMC1.HOW CAN HE BE REINCARNATED AS NERO????????the only reincarnation he could do is entering the hand.but being in nero's hand for two years is much.so he just entered some months before the game starts.

I agree. Nero is indeed NOT Vergil, Vergil's soul may have entered his arm some time after Dante 'killed' him, but not immediately. Vergil is Vergil, and Nero's not gonna replace him for any of us. Nero makes his own character, he's cool. He is NOT a replacement, Capcom!!! You can't fool us!!!! ...Oh, but who am I kidding....

The whole avatar thing and Yamato plus the blood of Sparda and decendant of Sparda crap, Nero is some odd version of Vergil. Then you've got to put to consideration that Vergil is too powerful to just die, he's the (strongest) son of Sparda.

Where is the evidence? Capcom is not going to say Nero is Vergil. Its just not true. Dante is the strongest son of Sparda ok. He won the battle, and Vergil was using the Force Edge. There is no denying it.
