Well no offense, but why don't you just ask the team which got sacked for making Dante a gloomy badass...? Many critisized DMC2 for changing Dante's character, and now that they've done that Capcom has decided to spawn prequels because they're afraid of continuing the series with a character nobody seems to appeal to. There's no reason why Dante has suddenly changed from being arrogant to being lifeless, the development team used for DMC2 just got everything wrong, that's all. And that's why they were nowhere to be found in DMC3 (with exception to Hideaki Itsuno, the director who was used again in DMC3, a prequel...). I mean, really, does Capcom give a crap about the history of their characters? Or care enough to look back and wonder, 'Hmm, I wonder why we made Dante go "...darK sOUl wiTh LIIIIIIIIIIIIIiiiIIIIIGHT"? Emotional distress, maybe? Or that the fact that the transmitters in his brain were reminding him of his early memories as a child when his mom was around, thus making his voice go real high and back to normal again when he put emphasis on the word LIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIiiiIIIIGHT. Yeah that might be it!'. Just saying, they don't just have a prepared storyline for everything, they just make it up for the sake of making a game. Yes, a game.

True. The only games that take themselves too seriously are the Final Fantasy series, cause those japanese are crazy about it. Businessmen stop their work for a week to play the game. Obviously Capcom don't give a *** and if I were them I would do exactly the same.

I mean, look. It's a game. Everyone is going to keep asking for something. Some favourite character to return, some other character to come to the spotlight and so on. When you are Capcom for example, all you need to do is deliver a decent game. When you do it, that's fine. When you don't, you try to improve on the next. I don't think there's anyone at Capcom worrying for Dante as a character for example and what is gonna happen to him..

well they kinda have too worry because if dante doesn't appeal to the audiance then the game goes down hill because no one likes the character or carries about what happens to him because he doesn't have a somewhat interesting background. not to make anyone mad but i'm serious because if you don't like the character then you don't like the game in my opinion.
