Yes, Dante combined Vergil's amulet with his own, releasing the true power of the Force Edge and obtaining the Sparda sword.

And by the way, it is pretty much confirmed that Vergil is indeed dead, so it would be nice if we could stop making pointless theories about him. But his soul still exists trapped into Nero's arm and Yamato, so if he comes back, it will be in a completely different form.

o.k dat cleard my doubts......about vergils death it is not possible.in connection with the true power of the sons of sparda they cannot be killed, maybe weakened.B4 dmc3 dante n vergil have been fighting each oder 4 a long tym...n dey havent been able to kill each other only weaken themselves..remeber wen vergil impaled dante to the ground wit his rebellion,vergil knew he cold not kill dante so he used the rebellion to pin him to the floor so as to give him time to get away 4rm dere be4 dante cold awake only dat he underestimated the power of the sword,,anyway If vergil could be killed den mundus wold hav been happier to do away wit him since it was his father that brought him into his present condition,but he cold not so he brainwashed him.Dante in dmc1 only destroyed the influence of mundus over vergil,so rit now vergil is in hell according to dmc2. No, not in the universe of DMC. People who live in hell are not departed. Dante and most of the other characters have been in hell, but they have not died. Departed means literally dead.

The story of DMC2 is completely irrelevant with DMC3's and 1's storyline, so don't base your assumptions on that. And what makes you think the Sons of Sparda can't be killed? Yes they can, even though they will take a lot more punishment than a normal human. And it is just a popular assumption that Mundus brainwashed Vergil, not a confirmed fact. In the light of the new information, Mundus may have actually killed Vergil, and used his soul to create Nelo Angelo. So we could say that Nelo Angelo is just Vergil's "ghost in the shell".

 a lot of people on IGN don't agree with me...but I'm anticipating some confusion on the Order's part between Sparda and Vergil...

Check the back of the DMC$ manual, right after "Demons" there is a poem like entry.

Read it first, while thinking the "shadow knight" is Sparda, and tell me if that matches up to you or not...

the fact that mundus killed vergil and used his soul to create nelo angelo is not also a confirmed fact. even if nelo angelo is vergil's soul ow was he able to remember his ''mummy's amulet'' wen he tried to choke dante.....Anyway u might be right,i might be right....but in any case we jst hav to wait and see.I hav a feeling dat capcom has a suprise in store 4 us,lets say by bringing vergil bck 2 dmc4 somehow..wat do u make of dat??

It is as confirmed as it can possibly get. It was stated that Vergil is dead and that Nelo Angelo was created from his soul. And do you know what a soul is? Of course Nelo Angelo is able to remember the amulet if Vergil's soul is inside of him. But who knows, maybe Vergil's soul is released from the Devil Bringer some day.

DMC4 makes no mention of why Yamato is there, how it was broken, and why Nero is connected to it.

It makes no mention of Vergil other than Dante saying Yamato used to belong to his brother.
