Re: Monster Hunter, need the guidence of a pro/player
im back, soon i know, but im up to "Handle with Care" the hardest quest offline, most hunters refuse to do this quest offline any more. I need mega juices and a lot of patience for this quest. dropping the stone is very fustrating and may cause me to hurl my controler through my television set, heres hoping that doesn't happen. I went on the quest not taking any items with me, its not looking good... a Gravios patrols the area, oh yeah about that guy i bet him 1 shot to unlock the Handle with Care quest. yeah he patrols the area, there are countless Ioprey or Bullfango in a single area... and the areas cant be cleared.... i dont know how im going to do this quest... i might have to do kill the gravios so he wont be a problem, but that wont matter, he is easy to avaid even while carrying the stone, its the bullfango that piss me off. It will be worth it to unlock the Last Quest though, how im looking forward to that quest. What weapon type do you use? I only use a GS, they are the best, great attack power, combos are easy and endless, you can roll in 3 directions and block. they are accurate to, and you can quickly roll out of a combo after the end of a slash. What quest are you up to? Ioprey hunting is that in the 5 star quests?you would have already beat a Rathalos, how did u find it? The Monoblos is easy you shouldn't have any problems with him. I will slay the Gypceros a few times until i get enough mega juices....

Re: Monster Hunter, need the guidence of a pro/player
Ioprey Hunting is in the 4-star quests, and I don't know how on earth I intend to go about fighting a Rathalos.
Are you ready for the changes?

Re: Monster Hunter, need the guidence of a pro/player
fighting a Rathalos is very easy, First of all, what kind of weapon do you use? what weapon is it, more to the point what is its attack power? You are going to want good armour as well. I had full steel and a Gypceros cap.I only had like 55 defence and my status defences were like + 5,+ 4, 0,+ 5. To kill a rathalos is actually very simple, keep to these rules and you will ace him. You might want to bring these on this quest: 10 potions, 10 Mega potions, a few antidotes, ( he has a poison sting ) 5 flash bombs, 1 pitfall trap, 2 trap tools, 2 nets, 3 lg barrel bombs, 2 sm barrel bombs, a few whetstones if your wep is easily blunted, paintballs, and all the currently avialable book of combos. Fighting a Rathalos He usually starts in area 3 i think, you'll see a clip introducing him, first things first, when he see's you, you want to block, he will roar and this will make u hold your ears if u dont block, and while your doing that he is most likely going to charge you. you can tell what he is going to do next, his movements are easy to read. When he is turning, if he does 2 fast turns, this means he is going to charge, so start to move the side. Now he tries to fool you sometimes, after he does 2 fast turns he starts to walk very slowely forward, this is a trap, he will immediatly charge in the direction he is walking. Now when he does 2 slow turns, this means he is going to shoot a fireball, its a good time to rush in and get sum hits on his head. You shuld be able to get a dizzy loop going, but probably only be able 2 land 2-3 stuns, his wing claws can be broken off, this also causes him to be stunned for a very short amount of time, his tail is also removable, along with face armour. You can get under his legs and land some combos, but u must be very carefull, not only can hsi tail swing hit u, even if you are a tiny bit off, which is very annoying since it doesn't really hit u, he can also charge, if u r under him while he charges u will get hit by it. even if u r just behind his legs u can still get dragged in the charge. so its a good idea to roll if u think hes going to charge. rathalos likes to fly around a lot, and does a very powerful attack whilst in the air, he flies around, circling the area, then rushes in and kicks you, it is easy to avoid if u do a leap ( sprinting while seen by a wyvren then pushing circle ) he has a few air attacks, his fireball atack is formidible, as he launches 3, but if u go under him he cant get u, and its a perfect time to set up a pitfall trap, when u can set 2 lg barrel bombs and activate with a sm one to make a big boom. his other air attack is a very annoying one, its his tail sting, which poisons you, and takes a fair amount of damage. He loves to charge at u, so setting up a pitfall trap is a good way to lure him in, for easy hits, make sure u r a bit back from the trap, while he is charging his head can hit you before his legs fall in the trap. Flash bombs r gonna be your best frnd here, after 2 slow turns is the best time to throw them right between his eyes. he will tail whip and bite when stuned. When he goes into frenzy mode, avoid. jst avoid until he calms down, he can kill u in a matter of seconds when in frenzy mode. So when vsing Rathalos, read his movements, the fast and slow turns, attack at the righ time, use your items effectively, and try to avoid combat in area 9, as its far to narrow and hs gonna kick your ass in there. area 10 can also be a hard place to fight. Its best to fight him in area's 3,4 and 5. i would advise saving a pitfall trap for when he starts limpin, and flyes to his nest. its a perfect time to kill him. My tactics for killing a rathalos is as simple as reading his movements, attacking at the right time, and using items effectively. it might be a good idea to bring spycoserum, ( the stuff that lets u no where a wyvren is, i cant spell lol ) if your not sure where he has flown off 2. Right now, i am very pissed off in the game, Handle with care is the hardest offline quest, Damn that Gravios! he always stuffs me up. Handle with care is the same as deliver wyvren egg kind of quests, but the difference is, you have 2 take the stone from 8, through 7, through 6, through 4, and then through 1 to get to camp. while a damn gravios gets in your way. its one of the hardest quests to complete. but i will be worth it to do "The troublesome Pair" ur not gonna believe this but i had a dream bout that quest, but it was sorta a ngihtmare coz instead of there beign a rathalos it was a Giant T-rex, like the ones from King Kong lol. The rathian was normal. Holy shjt.... this is a very big post, lol, i just dont wanna do that quest its too hard!!

Re: Monster Hunter, need the guidence of a pro/player
i am going insane... i... i just cant do it man... i just cant do it.... I get so far... but in the end... it doesn't even matter.... its not the Gravios that stuffs me up, its Area 4, after i pick up the stone, i drop it and then clear area's 7,6 and 1 so there are no enemies there, but area 4 cant be cleared.. its always full of ioprey... i am able to manouvere around them at first... but when i get to the end... Look at the diagram below. (|) _ _)) (|) = me _ _ = steps (1 _ = 1 step ) )) = exit. I am right there, at the exit, all i have to do, is run through it, and im in area 1, which has no enemies, and the next area is camp, so bassicly i pass the quest if i get to area 1. but when im there, right infront of the exit... A MOTHER FUCKIGN IOPREY JUMPS OUT OF FUCKIGN NO WHERE AND HITS HER CAUSING HER TO DROP THE FUCKING POWDERSTONE FOR THE FUCKING 11th TIME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! i have had enough.... i have tried so many times, simply failure..... bye

Re: Monster Hunter, need the guidence of a pro/player
Try laying a little Raw Meat in the area before you get this particular item. If they don't see you coming, they'll probably enjoy a free meal. As for the Rathalos, I use the Bone Scythe, a Dual Sword. About 150 attack power. Armour, let me think, some Velociprey Mail, a Battle Tasset, Hunter's Vambraces, Hunter's Greaves and a Hunter's Cap. I think. I might get full Velociprey.

Re: Monster Hunter, need the guidence of a pro/player
the meat thing did get me thinking, but it all wouldn't work, and to make it worse the meat will probably attract the attention of the Gravios, and that is the last thing i need.I have decided to abbondon the path that leads to ioprey, and instead going to do the path that leads to bullfango. 8 - 7 - 6 - 4 - 1- Camp This was my old route, the only monsters in the way was in area 4, which were the Ioprey 8 - 7 - 5 - 3 - 1 - Camp This is my new route, the noly monsters in the way here are the Bullfango in area 5. Since i have tried so many times with the ioprey i thought i would try to get past the Bullfango, and it has been going good, i have tried twice so far and have gotten very close, i didn't get mad since im used to failure lol, but i should be passing it today. the Bullfango are easy to avoid coz they all run in a straight line, the only hard part is when i get to the exit, its a narrow path, and there will be 6 Bullfango coming for me, so avoiding is hard at that part. With the Dual swords, i dont like using them, Maybe if u drink a mega juice and use the rage mode or whatever it is, when u use R1, having infinity stamina im sure u culd sum crazy damage. You should discover the weapon your best at and keep to it. When you have decided your weapon type you use, look up what the best weapon is that you are currently able to make with currently existing materials. For your armour..... Your not going very well there. I say forget about full Velociprey get yourself the best stuff u can get. I had full V Prey for the Kut-Ku, then i got full Kut-ku, then i had full steel, including the Pink Metal Boots for women characters ( 54,000 z i think, something really high like that ) to kill the rathalos, so now i have full rathalos. i advise u keep getting the best currently available armour, you need it. rathalos is just as strong as Monoblos when it comes to Armour, but Monoblos may have better "Skills" i will look into it. Im going to look into the arour thing, then try to pass, no... then iw ill pass that quest, and finally be able to do the troublesome pair!! Oh how much im looking forward to that quest!!! Shuld be so awesome!!

Re: Monster Hunter, need the guidence of a pro/player
i passed the quest! it was actually easy as... thanks to my new route, i was misled by them damn online guides! their route was harder, the route i took, i passed it 3rd try. I had two tries late at night, maybe i was just tired, but when i tried today, only one try and success! I looked into the armour thing, i might just stick to Full Rathalos. Troublesome Pair, is living up to my expectations, and even gone beyond! that quest, is like nothing there is Offline, its supposed to be Online sort of Difficulty. They Rath's are incredibly stronger, way stronger than the normal ones, they do a lot more damage, and can withstand a lot more damage. i know i will enjoy this quest.

Re: Monster Hunter, need the guidence of a pro/player
Hell yeah! I own that Rathalos! It was relatively easy, come to think of it; it's easy to dodge and there are plenty of opportunities to attack. I've killed it about 3 times, and the Rathian once, in the Queen of the Desert quest. And I sold my Bone Scythe; now I have a Viper Bite +; I'm getting the materials and money for the next improvement, the Deathprize, but for most of my hunting now, especially wyverns, I use an Arbalest, with Crag, Clust, Pellet, and Normal ammo. I have full Blademaster Battle armour, except the helmet, and I have a mishmash of Gunner armour. Bone Vest, Hunter's Cap (which makes part of my Blademaster armour), Hunter's Guards, Hunter's Coat and Battle Leggings - and I still own the Rathalos! I can't believe I've got to the point where I'm hunting Rathalos for kicks. And by the way, as crazy as it sounds, I sold the Hero's Blade...

Re: Monster Hunter, need the guidence of a pro/player
You got the Hero's blade.... hm you get that when you kill your first Rathalos right? what i dont get, is why you sold it.... i still have mine, the only reason i keep mine is because its a treasure of Kokoto. i still dont get why you sold it, the only reason is because you use the 'sword' type of weapon, and the Upgraded hero's Blade is supposed to be like the best sword. Im looking into the best swords offline... the deathprize only has 210 att and crudly sharpness, but does have stun element... the upgraded hero's blade, the Masters blade has 280 att and plus (3) defense, and awesome sharpness... the Masters blade has the best offline attack in a sword and the best defense boost offline (for a sword). the Deathprizes materials are easy to obtain, but if your having trouble getting Monster Fluids, get your bowgun, load up poison lv2 shots and 1 shot to a vespoid will drop it straight down for carving. The blazing falchon has 238 att, fire element and reasonable sharpness... so maybe u might get that too, made from the Bone Kris tree. i want an Ancient Blade, the most powerfull Offline great sword.... but its so hard to obtain, i need a Rusted great sword, and to get that i need Rustones, which aren't to hard to come by. Actually Handle With Care gives Rustones as rewards, and as crazy as it sounds, im willing to do that quest again and again. Its actually not that bad, i have to admit.. simply grab the stone, drop it, clear areas 7,3,1 go back to the stone and get past area 5, QUEST COMPLETE. speaking of quest complete, i havnt been seeing any of those lately. Ruler of Heaven and Earth is the hardest thing i've done in a game so far. oh Ruler of heaven and Earth is Troublesome Pair, it was originaly called ruler of heaven and earth, and when you pass this quest, you will be. the Rath's in this quest are stronger than beasts like the Monoblos and Diablos, and hit harder than a gravios's fire beam. when you get to the Basarios quest, if u get hit by his fire beam look how str it is, the Gravios's has to be twice as strong. I got hit by the rathalos's fly-off fireball move. its not the on ground fireball its the one where you say infront or under him, he will leap backswords shooting a fireball at u, almost killed me from full health. The time Limit is 50 mins, when i looked at the clock, i was in the 20 mins still on my first Rath.... i dont know whats wrong, these beats arent the same wyvrens! I think they are called Rathalos+ and Rathian+ they twice as srong as a normal one. When they go in fury mode if u get hit its over. I still say get better armour, you need better armour. Oh u like beating the Rathalos, then find the Capture a Rathalos its a lot more fun and u dont need to use any items apart from the supply box ones. Question ~ What and how many items do you use to beat a Rathalos Quest? Mine right now is several herbs, 2 first aid, 1 paintball, 3 flash bombs, and the required pitfall trap and tranqs to capture him. i havnt done att of rath in a while coz capture is easier lol

Re: Monster Hunter, need the guidence of a pro/player
Well, let's see... Bowgun ammo: Crag S Lv1 X 9, Clust S Lv1 X 3, Pellet S Lv1 X 60, Normal S Lv2 X 99, Normal S Lv1 My Own Items (carried at the time, not necessarily used in the quest): Herb X 10, Antidote Herb X 10, Paintball X 5, Well Done Steak X 2, etc. Supply Items (carried at the time, not necessarly used in the quest): Flash Bomb X 2, Ration X 2, Paintball X 2, Map, First Aid Med X 6 And I believe I only need better Gunner armour. Near full Battle armour for Blademaster will suffice for now. I'm saving up items and money for Rathalos armour, starting with the Gunner body armour, the Rathalos Vest.

Re: Monster Hunter, need the guidence of a pro/player
i havnt played MH in a while now, i did play this morning, tried to do the quest, i was able to kill the Rathian by the 26 min mark, so it almost took me half the time to kill one, i went to kill the rath, but i stuffed up and got beat down! lol. i leave on the quest with a full inventory, i then use 2 items slots, and get the firstaid x6 and the map to fill the 2 empty items slots. The quest is really challenging, i wonder how i would go as a gunner.... im willing to give it a try, but u have to carry so much ammo.... i dont know what i would get rid of to make room.... I could make full rath gunner in a day.... so the materials and $ isnt a worry... but the gun might and ammo space will be a problem. Any guns u think r good?

Re: Monster Hunter, need the guidence of a pro/player
I use an Arbalest. Mod Level 5, Long Barrel, Zoom Scope. Ammo is as I described before. And now I have full Gunner Battle armour, and the Hide Belt for the waist. Better than Battle waist parts, and can be used by Blademasters and Gunners. I'm also getting myself a good GS, in preparation for fighting the Basarios. At the moment, I have the Vile Serpentblade.

Re: Monster Hunter, need the guidence of a pro/player
if you want an easy to make, sharp and reasonably powerful GS, get the Great SerpentBlade. attack is 624 and has good sharpness. there may be better GS to get at your position in the game, but they wuld be harder to make i suppose. I havnt played Mh in a while, so im still up to trouble pair. im not sure when i will try again at that quest.

Re: Monster Hunter, need the guidence of a pro/player
Now I have the Great Serpentblade, and as crazy as it sounds, I feel I could do better. So I got myself a Bone Blade+, planning to upgrade it to Agito, not Serpentblade. I might try my hand at the Catch a Rathalos quest. Where can I get Machalite Ore? I'm looking ino gathering materials for an Arbalest+; it's slightly more powerful and can use higher quality ammo.

Re: Monster Hunter, need the guidence of a pro/player
Ok.... lets start with the GS issue.... feeling that u culd so better doesn't sound crazy at all, i was the same. But your gonna wanna trust me here. The great Serpent Blade is better than the Agito, and even its upgrades... If u go with the Agito, your gonna get stuck when u need somehting called a "Blos fang" which u get from a Monoblos and Diablos.... you'll get stuck on the Golem Blade, which has the same attack power as the Serpent, but yellow sharpness, so the serpent is the best choice until u kill a monoblos. When u do kill the Monoblos, make another Bone sword and go all the way to the Seigmund, this sword is the best, 864 attack!!!! better than anything else offline. apart from the Ancient Blade, more on that later. Then again, u culd make a rathalos Firesword, with reasonable good attack of 672, and fire element. its a better than the serpent, but is harder to make. But then u culd go even better, with a fierce sword known as the Eager Cleaver!! this baby's got 720 att and electric element, only thing is u need electro sacks... and i forgot how 2 get them, and even if they r available yet... and u also need 95 earth crystals... and 56 mach ore. which takes us to issue 2 the machalite ore, AKA Sparrowstone.... this stuff is rare 5, and for a good reason, tho its relatively easy to obtain for me, may be hard for u, if u havnt even got 1 yet, there are so many doors that will be opened for u when u get some. its the main ore used in everything. you want this stuff, and u want a lot of it. Mach ore can be mined, so if u dont mine, u will be, more to the point u shuld be. Mine and catch bugs! forget about fishing, unless your a gunner, wich u r, so u have 2 fish aswell. Mach ore can be found in a lot of places, best place to find it in F&H is area 5 and 6. In the Jungle zone im not sure, look around, same goes with the swamp zone. As for the Volcanic zone, you culd be getting 50 mach, 75 earth crystals, and 100+ iron from this zone in a single day, thats what i did. Me and Basarious became good pals. u also get rustones from this place, one of the rarest items offline, whats even more rare r Rath plates. more on those later. but the only quests i know of that r in the volcanic zone is the basarios one and the gravios one, and Handle with care. easiest from these 3 are Basarios, then HWC (i know, its actually easy) and then Gravios. there are so many spots to mine in the volcanic zone, these r the zones that i know of Area 2 = 1 spot Area 4 = 2 spots Area 3 = 1 spot Area 8 = 3 spots. there may be more.... ok. so with the GS issue, decide between the Rath GS or the Serpent GS, then make the Siegmund when u kill a monoblos. as for the mach ore, its eas to find, just mine, or trade the swamp elder med bones for it. i used to do this ( get piscine fangs, trade them to the F&H elder for med bones, trade them to the Swamp elder for Mach ore ) but mining is easier. ok, as for Ruststones, they produce some of the best weapons in the game. they can only be mined in area 8 offline. when u get a rustone, u go to create a wep, and polish it, if its not a rusted weapon, chances r it wont be, sell it for a profit. If it is a Rusted weapon, u can choose to keep that kind of rusted weapon, or load, do a quest, and then remake. the Rusted GS becomes the Ancient blade, with 912 jaw dropping attack power. the bad thing is.... u need a total of 120 earth crystals.... now, as for Rath plates, extremely rare, only available in the online. but can be obtained via "A Troublesome Pair" tail carves. They are useless offline.... Another massive post!! loli shuld have cleared some things up 4 u i hope. http://db.gamefaqs.com/console/ps2/file/monster_hunter_great_swords.png check this out, if u like how it is, there are more like it, just ask and i will give u the link
