Katsuou listened intently to Ares's and GR's plan as he inspected Eversor and Crimson Malevolence. "So nice of you to come back to the world of the living, Katsuou." emitted Crimson King's voice from Crimson Malevolence. "Yeah, it's good to be back." replied Katsuou as he sheathed Crimson Malevolence and holstered Eversor. "It was surprising though, Dante seems to be an expert an any weapon he picks up! When your body disappeared, he came and picked me up along with your revolver blade and used both to extreme effectiveness against the demons that broke through the barrier. Oh yeah, about the barrier... When you collapsed, the barrier weakened and shrunk tremendously. That captain you met earlier attempted to revive you but your body disappeared before he could do anything. That's when I told him to go back to Temen-Ni-Gru's ruins to check on that barrier spell we put up. Unfortunately, once your body disappeared, the barrier weakened again and shrunk to just around this building we're defending." explained Crimson King. "Alright, I got it. I'll go to Temen-Ni-Gru and see if I can revive the barrier." replied Katsuou. He looked around, Vergil and his army of demons were still ready to fight, there were a few other demon hunters ready as well, Dante was excited and ready as always, Satan, Mephisto, Ares, and Ghost Rider were preoccupied with their respective rituals, and there appeared to be a small army of demons outside the barrier attempting to break in, they seemed to be some kind of scout party. "Hey Dante, I'm gonna go to Temen-Ni-Gru's remnants to check up on the barrier spell I placed there, will everything be all right here if I left?" asked Katsuou. Dante didn't mind at all. "Do as you please, the party's about to get wild here." he replied a grin on his place. "Very well then." Katsuou said. An idea then stopped him. He reached inside his coat and pulled out a cell phone with a small scroll attached to it. He tossed it to Dante who simply caught it and looked at it for a moment. "It's in case any snags happen. If Ares or anybody here needs something concerning the barrier or has something urgent to report, just open that cell phone and talk into it. You don't need to dial or anything, your voice will just be transmitted to my mind. Don't worry, there's no roaming or peak hours with that." Katsuou said before he headed off in Temen-Ni-Gru's direction. He drew out Eversor and leaped out of the barrier and onto a nearby rooftop. He then quickly traveled towards Temen-Ni-Gru, leaping from rooftop to rooftop while shooting down any demons that tried to stop him. It wasn't long before he arrived at the ruins that were once the tower, Temen-Ni-Gru. He instantly found the captain's forces entrenched in the same spot as before. The soldiers quickly led Katsuou to their captain's tent. "You really are full of surprises aren't you, I thought you were dead!" the captain said, looking up from a tactical map hologram. "It's a long story, but it's good to be back. What's the situation here, captain...-" Katsuou said before the captain interrupted. "It's Mitchell, Captain Scott Mitchell of the Ghost Platoon." Captain Mitchell said. "Oh, that's right! Wait, when did the Ghosts become a platoon?" replied Katsuou. "Since this war started, now back to the situation here, a hell of a lot of demons started assaulting this position but we held out alright. Command gave us an extra platoon of reinforcements along with extra ammunition, equipment, and a squadron of main battle tanks and other armored support. I also have a squad standing watch over the generator room in these ruins. Don't worry, the demons aren't gonna be taking this position anytime soon." explained Mitchell. "Alright then, I'll take a look at the generators." said Katsuou before he left Mitchell's tent and went into the generator room. He approached the main Neo Generator and the spell area. The Neo Generator looked as lively as ever but less energy seemed to be used. Katsuou quickly spotted the problem, more than half of the scrolls he used for the spell darkened and went inactive, most likely because of his death. He quickly placed himself back into the center of the scrolls and started to renew the spell. One by one, the scrolls lit up and more energy began to arc from the main Neo Generator to the scrolls. "Keep it up Katsuou, it seems to be working. I can sense the barrier slowly expanding and increasing in power." said Raikoh's voice from Soul Shrine. "Why isn't it growing faster?" asked Katsuou. "Because the barrier's being met with resistance from the demons that broke through earlier. Don't worry, the barrier is still repulsing the demons further back. It'll be about an hour before the barrier is back to its original span of 150 square miles." explained Raikoh. "Ah whatever, an hour won't too big of a deal for Mitchell. That guy and his forces could probably withstand a year long siege at this position." replied Katsuou as he continued to focus on reviving the barrier spell while Cpt. Mitchell and his forces stand guard over the ruins of Temen-Ni-Gru. Meanwhile, on the outer parts of the city... "Damnit! Brother, it appears that the barrier is expanding!" cried Algeo. "I can see that! We should continue...-" replied Pascicor before Algeo interrupted. "We can't brother, as we can see from here, the demons that are resisting the barrier are either being pushed back, or being incinerated from its power. We cannot endanger our forces... for now." Algeo explained. "Very well, but I'm going to have a hard time explaining this to Effrenus." said Pascicor before he relayed the news to the other forces through his telepathic powers. "Well, at the very least, we could saturate the barrier with a bombardment from our Infested artillery and helicopters." said Algeo. "Make it so." replied Pascicor as he continued to communicate with the other demonic forces through his telepathy. In a few moments, the ground shook as the thunderclaps of the infested artillery sounded throughout the city while the infested helicopters launched their payload of missiles. The artillery rounds and missiles pounded against the expanding barrier with extreme ferocity, slowing down its expansion to a near halt. "Now all we can do is wait for them to make their move." whispered Algeo as the siege commmenced.

Vergil could sense that his Infested tanks and helicopters were being used against him and his companions. As every demon under his command swore an oath to let him absorb their soul if they would ever betray him, a large amount of blue, flaming claws erupted from Yamato and were rocketed towards the Infested vehicles. The claws teared through the assaulting vehicles, making them explode, and returned to the Yamato with the souls of the Infestants. Vegil concentrated some demonic magic and summoned his Infested nuclear submarines in the water of the channel and gave them the immediate order to fire their rockets to the legions of Frost Blades that was approaching the restored barrier. He knew that this would propably mean the end for them, but he knew that the submarines would be safe beneath the surface of the water, knowing that none of the demons in they army has the ability to swim. And if his submarines would be in too great danger, he could allways summon some Leviathans to deal with the threath.

The main generator room of Temen-Ni-Gru shook tremendously from the Infested barrage for a few minutes before a sudden, strange silence followed, allowing Katsuou to continue restoring the barrier in relative peace. "Whew, that was close! The barrage was so sudden and intense, I nearly lost control over the whole damned spell!" shouted Katsuou. "Well that would've been a disaster if the barrier were to collapse prematurely. Thanks to the Sons of Sparda, we won't have to worry about anymore...'interference.'" said Raikoh. "So how much more of this do we have?" asked Katsuou. "Not much more, about 10 minutes at most. The human forces have retreated further to within 130 square miles. We can probably use the saved energy to further reinforce the barrier if we have to." replied Raikoh. The room shook lightly again, this time from the sounds of a nearby battle. The squad standing guard over the room took a quick look outside and rushed back in, flicking the safeties off their weapons and standing ready by the entrance. "It seems that more demons had gotten through the barrier than I had anticipated." said Raikoh. "They breached the barrier again?!" shouted Katsuou. "No, these demons are from earlier, during your 'absence'. It seems that the battle is very intense outside. I can handle the spell here if you want to assist Captain Mitchell." explained Raikoh. "Why didn't you tell me you could handle the spell? I'll go take a look then. If it seems too intense, then I'll leave the spell up to you." replied Katsuou as he unsheathed Soul Shrine and stuck it in the center of the Scroll-Spell formation. "Well since I don't have a 'physical manifestation' like you do, it will take longer to finish restoring the spell. I'd say, it'll take about 30 minutes for me." replied Raikoh, this time his voice emitted more loudly from Soul Shrine, making it audible to the guarding squad. "I got it. Hey, soldiers! Make sure nothing gets into this room, ok?" shouted Katsuou. The soldiers gave a subtle nod in response, concentrating their attention on the entrance. Katsuou unsheathed Crimson Malevolence and unholstered Eversor as he dashed outside, into the raging battle that ensued in the surrounding ruins. Bullets, grenades, and other projectiles where flying everywhere as Captain Mitchell's platoon, supported by their armored squadron, held the line against a surprisingly large force of demons. "So you want some of the action? Fine by me! There're more of these demons than I had anticipated! But don't worry, we can handle them!" shouted Mitchell over the deafening blasts of an auto cannon he manned, demons were flung like ragdolls from the force of the Captain's barrage. "Then what're you gonna do about THOSE?!" shouted Katsuou, pointing at a small swarm of flying demons resembling Gryphon accompanied by a mass of large blood goyles. "Ramirez! Get Beta Squad on those M134's and .50 cal.s now!!!" ordered Mitchell. "Roger! Manning gun emplacements now!" replied a nearby lieutenant as he and a squad rushed to man a series of heavy gun emplacements. Suddenly, a large ball of blue flame struck the incoming swarm, incinerating nearly half of the Gryphon look-a-likes and melting most of the blood goyles. The flame seemed to have been launched from Devil May Cry's direction. "Thanks Vergil, I guess we owe you one." said Katsuou as he watched in slight amusement as the remainder of the aerial threat was gunned down in a hail of .50 caliber death. In the distance, Katsuou noticed the ground pulsating with a blue color. After a few moments, a large group of Hell Vanguards and Damned Chess Pieces materialized from that ground. They glowed with a purplish aura, signifying that they had Devil Triggered. "Captain! Over there! Those guys are too tough for normal gunfire. I'm going in!" shouted Katsuou as he leaped up in the air and landed in the fray. He charged the new threat, using Eversor's .60 cal rounds to mow down any demons that blocked him. The front most Vanguard attempted to catch Katsuou with a low sweeping strike from its scythe. Katsuou easily jumped over the attack and caught the demon in the face with a double stinger from Crimson Malevolence and Eversor. Katsuou blasted a jet of fire from Crimson Malevolence and used the kinetic force to launch off of the Vanguard and into the air above. While still airborne, he focussed some of his ki into Crimson Malevolence, the sword glowed brightly as it was charged with Katsuou's power. Using the force from his fall, he drove Crimson Malevolence into the ground, causing a massive vortex of bright-red flames and burning away all the demons near him except for a Damned King & Queen and 2 Vanguards that were lucky enough to escape the blast radius in time. The 2 Vanguards teleported next to Katsuou and launched a coordinated attack; one bringing down an overhead strike while the other used another low sweep. Katsuou back flipped out of the way in time, charged up Eversor, and peppered the Vanguards with a volley of charged shots from Eversor. Even though the Vanguards were Devil Triggered, it did little to nothing to impede the charged .60 cal rounds. Eversor's barrel-blade suddenly glowed white hot, indicating that the blade had reached maximum absorption capacity of the heat and vibration from firing Eversor; in other words, maximum power. The Queen then lifted into the air and charged Katsuou. Katsuou shifted Eversor into a backhand styled grip. He then sidestepped and caught the Damned Chess Queen with a swift counterattack, Eversor's empowered blade cut through the possessed stone as if it were wet paper. The remaining King shot a large laser attack at Katsuou, who merely pointed Eversor forward, the edge of its blade met with the center of the laser attack, causing the laser to fork and cut into nearby demon crowds while leaving Katsuou unscathed. Katsuou then charged the Damned Chess King, using a combination of sword techniques and revolver spinning to cut it into ribbons. Katsuou then paused, taking a moment to gather the residual energy from the defeated demons to recharge himself. Sand started to seep through the ground around him for a few moments before a crowd of Hell Sloths materialized, surrounding him and DT'ing. Katsuou sighed deeply and stretched a little, "This is gonna be a very LONG day." he said before he charged into the new threat. Back to the outer parts of the city... "Oh brother..." complained Algeo as he looked at the smoldering remains of the Infested Vehicles. "Hey Algeo, incoming." Pascicor said rather calmly, looking at the volley of missiles launched. As the missiles closed in, he combined his telekinetic powers with his brother's mastery over ice, slowing down the missiles with telekinesis until his brother froze them solid, allowing Pascicor to rip apart the now harmless projectiles with his mind. "Now, what to do about those submarines...-" said Algeo before Pascicor interrupted. "It seems that the ever impatient Effrenus has chosen to...'deal' with that problem." said Pascicor, observing the clouds above gathering and changing into a bright golden color as lightning arced within the cloud mass, indicating that Effrenus was about to use one of the most destructive moves in his arsenal: Chaos Storm. Effrenus's body crackled with power as he DT'd. He then raised his twin battle axes Ignis & Fulgur into the sky and cackled with insane laughter. "LET CHAOS RAIN DEATH FROM THE SKY!!!!" he roared as he pointed his axes towards the channel where the submarines hid. The subs then launched a volley of missiles at the impending threat but to no avail. From the sky rained a massive tidal wave of lightning bolts and meteors composed of fire and electricity. The onslaught swallowed up the missiles and crashed into the channel. The earth shook once more from the bombardment of the Chaos Storm, the cracks of thunder and explosions of the meteors sounded all throughout the city for all to hear. After a few minutes of the hellish rain, the Chaos Storm ceased with one last crack of lightning. The area where the channel was, along with a good portion of the city, was replaced by a cluster of giant, burning glassed craters. Having spent well over half of his ample stamina on that over-killing attack, Effrenus fell on his knees, almost completely collapsing while struggling to catch his breath. "Hell......yeah..." he muttered in between breaths. "I always knew that monster packed monstrous strength, but to think he was capable of THAT, sheesh! That just replaced one problem with another, now Effrenus is left defenseless!" mused Algeo. "Not necessarily, brother. Those burning craters have effectively sealed off the city from the West, except for flyers like Effrenus's true form. And you remember those Elite Frost Battlemages we gave him and Brutus earlier right? Observe their...handiwork." replied Pascicor. Effrenus's retinue of Elite Frost Battlemages, accompanied by another legion of various assorted demons surrounded him in a kind of ritual circle. "What......you.....punks......wanna fight?" Effrenus asked in between breaths. As one, the Frost Battlemages began impaling the various demons of the other legion with their battle staff-spears. The resulting bodies instantly disintegrated and changed into glowing red demonic energy. The Battlemages then pointed their weapons at Effrenus and arced the energy towards him, restoring his power with the sacrificed souls. "That's a pretty neat trick! But now he's down a legion, not that he really needed them." said Algeo. "Yes, it'll take a while to restore his...'abundant' stamina but that should eventually get the job done. Wait, that gives me an idea..." Pascicor said before he closed his eyes in concentration, relaying a telepathic message to Effrenus and his forces. "What do you have in mind, brother?" asked Algeo. "I should have thought of it sooner. Effrenus and his forces can combine their power for a ritual to raise the earth where the craters are. All the shifting earth will snuff out the flames and create a path into the western part of the city. From there, if we all coordinate a massed ranged bombardment, that barrier should eventually crumble." explain Pascicor. "Well planned, brother. Once Effrenus recovers and raises that earth, this city is ours!" cheered Algeo. "I just hope the reward Mundus offered is worth all this trouble, something tells me that this battle is going to be...very troublesome." replied Pascicor as he and his brother observed Effrenus's restoration ritual nearing completion.

Before I'm continuing, I wanna ask something cuz' I think I misunderstood something. Are Algeo and his brother going to turn against Effrenus? Yeah, you guys may think I'm stupid now, but I'm from Belgium and I'm no English pro (yet). Anyway, my story continues here. Satan and Mephisto were finished creating the bodies. They looked like human men with a very pale skin, short black hair, and were had completely black eyes. Satan & Mephisto nodded at Ares and Ghost Rider. A & GR generated a portal from each hand from wich the evil souls erupted and sought their way into the bodies. The more souls sought their way into each body, the more red the eyes of the newborn demons started to glow. After ten minutes, every of the Legion demons was filled with thousand souls. Their eyes shined even brighter red than Vergil's and they even got pupils. The intense evil that was embedded in each of these Legions cloaked it's host in pure darkness. Then the Legions started speaking, each with thousand voices at the same time "We are Legion, for each of is is maaaanyyyyy! What does master command?". Vergil asked the newborn demons "Who do you see as your master?". As an answer, the Legions pointed at Ghost Rider. Vergil asked Satan "How sure are we that Mundus can't turn these against us too?". Satan replied with "That's one of the demon laws I wrote. If a new breed of demons is created, it cannot be converted by others until thousand years have passed. If they were to be controlled by someone else ealier, that someone would first need the permission of the creator". Ghost Rider gave his first order "Legions, as you can see, this area is surrounded by a barrier. Besides the humans and devil hunters here, there are also demons within it. Kill any demon that's not on our side or under the command of Nelo Angelo and then return to me!". The Legions said "It will be done, master". They spread out and claimed their victims. They used the darkness to travel by. As they killed their prey, they posessed him for a few seconds and took his soul away. For every soul that was taken away (and converted), a new Legion was born.

[Nope, no backstabbing is gonna happen. Going on with the story...] The fighting at the ruins of Temen-Ni-Gru escalated into a siege. It seemed that almost half of the demons within the barrier were drawn towards the battle at the remnants of Temen-Ni-Gru. The fighting became more chaotic as more and more bodies piled while the ground seemed to run red with blood. Captain Mitchell and his forces continued to hold the line against their demonic attackers, filling the air with a storm of lead. Mitchell's auto cannon turret had long since run out of ammo and he frantically fired his rifle into the writhing mass of demons while moving to another gun turret. His foot suddenly slipped on something and he nearly lost his footing. Taking a moment to reorient his posture, Mitchell noticed that the entire floor near him was covered in spent ammunition casings. He carefully stepped through the piles of bullet casings until he reached another unmanned .50 cal emplacement. He rushed into position and unleashed the .50 cal's fury into a nearby group of Hell Prides, reducing them to harmless piles of sand. In the distance, Mitchell noticed what seemed to be a bright red flame in the middle of the whole mess, cutting through the demonic masses with ease. He smiled and continued to fire into the oncoming waves of attackers. "Guess that guy is having a fun time out there." Mitchell muttered, observing as Katsuou continued to cut through the ranks of the demonic force with the burning might of Crimson Malevolence. "Damnit, how many more of these guys are there?!" shouted Katsuou as he launched more arcs of flame from Crimson Malevolence. "Well over 20,000." emitted Crimson King's voice from Crimson Malevolence. "WHAT?! You actually counted?!" exclaimed Katsuou as he leaped into the air and fired a storm of Eversor's .60 cal rounds. "Not really, just an estimate. I think I have recovered enough strength to further assist you, Katsuou." explained Crimson King. "How so?" asked Katsuou, using Eversor and Crimson Malevolence in unison to cut down nearby demons. "Well, you remember when you transformed into Immortal Warrior form for your fight with Shutendoji right? You can-" Crimson King explained before Katsuou interrupted. "I'm not using that again. Last time, that killed me!" said Katsuou. "That was only because you stayed in that form for much longer than your body could handle. I'm proposing a similar and much safer process. I've seen Dante do something like this when he Devil Triggers with his Devil Arms equipped. Simply sync your ki flow with Crimson Malevolence and channel its power into you. Then utilize your normal process to transform into Immortal Warrior form. You can handle things from there." explained Crimson King. "Alright, I'll give it a try." replied Katsuou as he holstered Eversor and leaped out of the fray and onto the charred remains of an APC. He gathered some residual energy from nearby dead demons and regained some power before commencing. Calming his mind and blocking out the deafening sounds of battle, he closed his eyes and synced his ki flow with Crimson Malevolence. He started to channel his weapon's power into his body, feeling a strange burning sensation as a new fiery power coursed through his veins. After a few moments, he opened his eyes and engaged his Immortal Warrior form. A huge, blinding explosion emitted from Katsuou's body, obscuring him from sight and burning away all demons that were within a 20 meter radius of him. When the smoke cleared, Katsuou's body seemed unrecognizable. His hair lengthened and changed into a billowing mass of burning red hair and he gained two horns on his forehead, the right one being white and the left one was black. His face took on the demonic features of Crimson King's face and the right half of his face was colored white while the other half was colored black; but one difference was apparent, his eyes became bright red flames. His coat seemingly melded to his body and transformed into black armor, decorated with burning red designs of the Minamoto clan. A large aura of crimson red flames emitted from his body and he tightened his grip on Crimson Malevolence, the sword's blade was ablaze with flames of its own. Katsuou's new appearance made it seem as though he was in Devil Trigger instead of Immortal Warrior Form. "This is.....new......and..........AWESOME!!!!" remarked Katsuou, caught completely by surprise at how his Immortal Warrior Form had changed. He felt an immense, burning power surging through him. He then flexed his limbs and observed his surroundings for a moment before leaping high into the air. Crimson Malevolence sparked with power as Katsuou began to charge it up with some of his ki. Right when Katsuou landed, he plunged Crimson Malevolence into the ground, causing a massive explosion of bright red flames. The explosion incinerated every demon that was within a 50 meter radius of Katsuou when he landed. Katsuou then leaped with blinding speed into a nearby crowd of Blades and Marionettes. Wielding Crimson Malevolence with both hands, Katsuou unleashed a storm of attacks into the crowd. With each swing he took, Crimson Malevolence unleashed an arc of its flames. In mere seconds, Katusou completely decimated the crowd of Blades and Marionettes. Using a combination of his Spirit Dashes and high speed leaps, Katsuou darted throughout the demonic masses, cutting and burning away any demons in his path. In the distance, from Mitchell's viewpoint, Katsuou appeared to be a burning streak of crimson fire. Suddenly, Katsuou sensed an absurdly large, powerful, and evil presence. Looking far to the south, he spotted the source. The shadows in the far south appeared to convulse and shift until they transformed. What appeared to be a group of human men emerged from those shadows, and each one appeared to be identical. Everyone of them had very pale skin, short black hair, but the strangest feature about them was that all their eyes glowed with an evil red light. Before Katsuou could do anything, he suddenly heard Dante's voice blaring in his mind. "Hello!! Is this thing even working?! Hey, uhhh, damn, he never told me his name! Whoever gave me this phone, HELLLOOO!!!" Dante's voice shouted. The sudden loudness in Katsuou's mind nearly disoriented him. "Watch it! You don't have to yell, Dante! This is my mind you're screaming into! My name is Katsuou. Katsuou Minamoto. And yes, the phone is obviously working, but you better not drop it!" Katsuou responded in his mind while fending off nearby attacks. "Cool, it does work! Anyway, the guys here have finished up their ritual so watch out for their 'Legions' and don't fight 'em. They look like humans with pale skin, short black hair, and glowing red eyes." Dante explained. "I got it. So is everything alright back at Devil May Cry? Theres a huge 'party' going on here, a lot of demons showed up. Like, over 20,000 of 'em. And the party just keeps gettin crazier be the second." Katsuou replied. "20,000 eh? Sounds like fun. Don't hog all the action, cuz I want in!" Dante said. "Whatever, the party's not ending anytime soon." Katsuou said before he heard a click in his head, indicating that Dante hung up. Katsuou watched the Legions moving to engage the demons for a moment before he went back to hacking and slashing through the demonic masses. On the outer parts of the city.... "Looks like Effrenus is back to full fighting strength, brother." said Algeo as he observed Effrenus's forces finishing the recovery ritual. "So it seems. It's going to take Effrenus's forces a while to get those craters raised though." replied Pascicor as he watched Effrenus and his forces move towards the edge of the craters and beginning the ritual to raise the craters back to normal ground level. "Maybe we should use this time to think of a strategy..." muttered Algeo. "What strategy? We outnumber the forces of the Sons of Sparda by hundreds of millions! We have them surrounded on all sides! We don't need to worry." replied Pascicor. "You're right brother. Should we take inventory of our forces to see what's available?" asked Algeo. "Anything to pass the time while Effrenus gets to work on those craters. Oh yeah, maybe I should get Brutus to try a ranged attack on the barrier with his legion of Elite Frost Battlemages." said Pascicor before he relayed a telepathic message to Brutus. On the eastern edges of the city, Brutus waited patiently until he received Pascicor's message. "Not a bad idea, Pascicor." said Brutus before he motioned for his Frost Battlemages to move towards him. "Alright. Use your powers to fire a ranged attack on that barrier. Make it...an ice attack." Brutus ordered. The Frost Battlemages all nodded and pointed their battle spear-staves to the sky. Using their powers as one, they materialized a gigantic orb of ice in the air in front of them. With coordinated timing, they all waved their weapons forward and launched the massive ice orb towards the barrier. Once the orb impacted, it detonated, causing a giant explosion of ice. But the attack only seemed to slow the barrier's expansion. "Okay, ummmmmmm, try again?" Brutus said. The Frost Battlemages all nodded again and prepared for another attack. "Oh joy....just like the old fashioned sieges from my time." Brutus said before he sat down on a nearby rock and watched in amusement as the Frost Battlemages lobbed another orb.

The Frosts formed another giant orb of ice, an even bigger one this time. The orb was about to be launched when the Legion that was formed with the body of Cerberus teleported right in front of it and absorbed it's power, then that Legion transformed into a wave of darkness and crashed into the Frost Battlemages. The souls of the Frost Battlemages were sucked out. Brutus jumped up in pure anger, but before he or any of his colleagues could do anything, the Cerberus Legion teleported back inside the barrier using the darkness. As the Cerberus Legion returned to his master, he used the souls he and the other Legions collected to forge some new ones. The area quarantained by the barrier was almost completely "washed clean" from any demon that wasn't with Dante or Vergil in any way. This time, Vergil thought it was time for an assault of his own. He summoned five great Leviathans and sended them after the legions attacking the area protected by the barrier. The Leviathans each attacked the legions from an other side. The beasts swooped a lot of the demons in the air and ate them.

On the outer edges of the city... "Brother, Brutus doesn't seem to be so happy." said Algeo, using a pair of high-powered binoculars to observe Brutus in the distance letting out his anger on the rock he sat on. "I can see that, Algeo. But we have a much bigger problem to deal with. To be accurate, 5 big flying problems." replied Pascicor, watching as the 5 Leviathans started to swallow up the any other demon in the air. "Well, should I handle it, brother? I can...-" Algeo said before Pascicor interrupted. "No, I have a good idea on how to get rid of those. When you took inventory on our forces, how many Frost Battlemage legions did you count?" Pascicor asked. "For our northern forces, I counted....7." replied Algeo as he looked at a scroll containing his inventory report on their forces. "Good, now, here's my plan." said Pascicor before he quickly explained his plan to Algeo. Algeo nodded and motioned for the Frost Battlemages to come forward. Combining his immense ice powers with that of the Frost Battlemages, Algeo and his retinue materialized several battleship-sized lances of ice in the air in front of them. Energy began to crackle around Pascicor's body as he Devil Triggered and drew his weapons: Discordia, his demonic battle staff, Animus and Corpus, two large demonic chakrams (sharp spinning disks) with minor flame powers, and a multitude of other small chakrams. Animus, Corpus, and the other chakrams spun around Pascicor's body, caught in his telekinesis. Using their combined powers of Telekinesis and ice mastery, Pascicor and Algeo launched the giant ice lances at the Leviathans. The ice lances flew through the sky with amazing speed, making them appear to be giant shafts of blue light. Within an instant, 3 of the Leviathans were skewered by the ice lances. The giant beasts let out a deafening roar before they plummeted to the city below, getting impaled on the city's sky scrapers. "Nothing like a good old fashioned whaling." mused Algeo. "Focus Algeo! There are still 2 more!" snapped Pascicor. Algeo nodded and prepared another volley before he watched in surprise as one of the remaining Leviathans was perforated by a barrage of large, blood-red arrows. Pulling out his binoculars, Algeo saw that Brutus had ordered his remaining Elite Blades to form a few hundred large ballistas from their blood vomit. Algeo then finished forming the ice lances and waited for his brother's signal. The last Leviathan saw this and charged Pascicor and Algeo's forces. The giant beast dove from the sky and charged with its wide, gaping mouth open. But it was too late for the poor beast, as it ended up receiving a volley of gigantic ice lances in the face. The giant beast cried out in pain before it blindingly crashed into a nearby skyscraper. The Cerberus Legion teleported in front of Pascicor and Algeo in response to the recent attacks. Before it could transform into a wave a darkness to attack, Pascicor caught it in the tight grasp of his telekinesis. "So this is the monster that ate the Brutus's Battlemages. Interesting..." Pascicor said before he lifted the Cerberus Legion high into the air with his telekinesis. Suddenly, Pascicor launched Animus, Corpus, and all his other chakrams at the Cerberus Legion. The small swarm of spinning disks flew with lightning fast speed as they proceeded the carve up the Legion's body. After a few moments, Pascicor stopped his attack. "Go back to your master and tell him to keep a proper leash on his dogs!" shouted Pascicor before he flung the Cerberus Legion back towards the barrier ask if it were a mere ragdoll. The Legion's body impacted against the barrier with a heavy crash and fell to the ground. When it landed, the Legion's body shifted into darkness and teleported back into the barrier. "Maybe you shouldn't have...-" Algeo muttered before Pascicor interrupted. "Shouldn't have done what? We're properly prepared for any teleporting threats now! You can freeze anything that pops up, I can send any threat flying, Brutus has quick feet and those fearsome illusion powers, and Effrenus can burn and shock anything into a pile of smoldering ash! Oh yeah, now that I mentioned Effrenus..." Pascicor said as he returned to his human form. He looked over to the western edge of the city to check on Effrenus's progress in raising the craters. "Looks like he's almost done." noted Algeo. "Yeah, once he's finished, we can finally get this invasion started." replied Pascicor. Back to inside the barrier... The battle at the ruins of Temen-Ni-Gru started to slow down as the demons soon found themselves outmatched by Katsuou's newly empowered onslaught, the unyielding defense of Captain Mitchell's forces, and the arrival of the Legions. Katsuou continued to cut through the demonic masses, not feeling fatigued at all by using his new Immortal Warrior form. He turned to face a crowd of Marionettes but before he could do anything, the Marionettes were mowed down in a storm of demonic charged bullets. Katsuou turned to see Dante standing over a pile of dead demons, with Ebony and Ivory in his hands and a few other demon hunters behind him. Dante looked in slight puzzlement at Katsuou's new Immortal Warrior form. "What, didn't like your old appearance? Anyway, I guess you still saved me a good part of the action." Dante said, holstering Ebony and Ivory and drawing out Rebellion. "Yep, there's still plenty of fun left in this party. It's good to see that you made it in time." replied Katsuou. "Ladies and gentlemen, LET'S ROCK!!!" shouted Dante, leading Katsuou and the other demon hunters in a grand charge into the last of the demonic force that attacked Temen-Ni-Gru. Once the distance closed, Dante impaled a Hell Sloth with a swift Stinger from Rebellion and proceeded to decimate a nearby group of Hell Gluttons with a charged up Drive. Katsuou leaped over Dante and burned away several Blades with an arc of flame launched from Crimson Malevolence. The other demon hunters plowed through the remnants of the demonic force. Amidst the chaos, Katsuou noticed that Dante had a wide grin on his face, showing how glad he was to get into another massive battle. Within minutes, the demonic force that was once larger than 20,000 was cut down to only a few hundred. "Hey Dante, once we're done here we need to head back to Devil May Cry. We need a plan to deal with the main demonic force!" shouted Katsuou as he cut down a dozen Marionettes. "Yeah, I know! Worry about that later!" replied Dante as he juggled 3 Blades in the air with Ebony & Ivory. Katsuou finally noticed that the sun had started to come up, lighting up the sky as night gave way to dawn.

As the last of the demons around the ruins of Temen-Ni-Gru were slaughtered, Katsuou reverted back to his normal form. Surprisingly, he felt no pain nor stress when he reverted back to his human form. "That's strange, last time I reverted, my whole body gave out on me." said Katsuou. "That's because you stayed in Immortal Warrior form for far longer than your body could handle. Also, I handled the stress of Immortal Warrior form with my own power. That's why you didn't feel any strain when you transformed." emitted Crimson King's voice from Crimson Malevolence. "I see. Well, Dante and the others have the situation under control here. Let's go back inside and check on the barrier." said Katsuou as he ran back towards the ruins of Temen-Ni-Gru. Katsuou gave a quick nod to Captain Mitchell before he went back into the main generator room. The soldiers standing guard in the room gave a quick salute and returned to their posts. Katsuou then approached the spell area, everything seemed to be alright; Soul Shrine remained in the center of the scroll formation, glowing dimly. "So, how's the barrier looking?" asked Katsuou as he picked up Soul Shrine. "It's completely restored now. Even if the enemy attacked, it can still stand for about 3 days before needing a recharge." replied Raikoh's voice from Soul Shrine. "Ok, let's go outside and assess the situation." said Katsuou as he dashed back outside. Once he got outside, he watched in amazement as all the Legions merged with the Beowolf Legion, empowering the massive beast with their dark powers. Right when Katsuou moved forward, he nearly slipped on something. Looking down, he saw that the ground had become a pool of spent ammunition casings. "Hey Mitchell, you gotta do something about all these casings!" shouted Katsuou. "Yeah, I already have a squad handling that!" replied Captain Mitchell as he made his way towards Katsuou. "Looks like the party's over." said Katsuou once Mitchell got to him. "Yeah, but it was one hell of a party. So, what do you plan on doing now?" asked Mitchell. "Leave the demonic hordes to us. Dante and the other hunters can think of a plan to attack the demons outside the barrier. We need you and the other human forces to defend the survivors in the city. Where are the survivors and your other allies?" asked Katsuou. "Our forces are currently spread out all over the area in the barrier. The HQ is located at City Hall along with a majority of our forces and the survivors. But we're not sure if we have all the survivors, there might be a few more stranded out there. I'll relay your plan to Command and wait for their orders." replied Mitchell. "Very well, good luck to you." said Katsuou before he went back out to the battlefield and approached Dante and Vergil, who were issuing orders to the demon hunters and demonic armies under their command. "So Dante, Vergil, how're you gonna deal with the hordes waiting outside the barrier?" asked Katsuou. Back to outside the barrier... "Brother, Effrenus and his forces have finished their ritual." said Algeo, observing the last of the craters being raised by Effrenus and his forces in the West. Suddenly, Pascicor fell to his knees and gripped his head in pain. Algeo could hear his brother muttering some things, as if speaking to some unseen person. "I see...what about the barrier...ok....I understand.....do you mind telling me what you're......fine.....ok, I guess we can finally commence the invasion." Pascicor muttered before rising back to his feet. "Another message from Mundus?" asked Algeo. "Yes, he really should give a warning or something before he does that. He has informed me about those shadowy creatures that attacked us earlier. Apparently they're weaker during daylight and have now all merged into one massive beast. Mundus said that he arranged for some 'specialized' reinforcements to arrive and help us with that new threat. Mundus also had the 2 remaining Despair clones in the south merge into one demon to deal with any later threats. Let's commence the invasion, I want all forces to make a slow advance towards the barrier but no one is to attack until everyone is in position. I want Brutus, Effrenus, and the Despair at the front of their advancing forces so they can stave off any further preemptive attacks. The same goes for us." explained Pascicor before he relayed his orders through telepathy to the other forces. Algeo gave the signal to their own forces in the North. As one, the demonic hordes made a slow, careful advance towards the barrier, with Pascicor, Algeo, Brutus, Effrenus, and the combined Despair in front of their respective forces. A series of portals opened up in the air above the city. Pascicor noticed strange, white feathers falling from the portals. "So, Mundus has sent Fallen to deal with the new threat. And he still refuses to tell me what he's planning to do during this 'invasion.' I just hope the pay is gonna be worth all this trouble." muttered Pascicor as their forces continued the slow advance.
