Sadly, this year's Electronic Entertainment Expo was totally devoid of anything Devil May Cry related. Shawn McPherson and I did meet up on the last day at the Capcom booth to see if the rumored surprise announcement/trailer would come to light, but as the show winded down it became obvious that Capcom really wasn't holding anything back this year, except the amount of money they spent on their booth.
So, myself and other fans were left wondering...what does Dante's future hold? Perhaps an appearance on Capcom's new Mobile Gaming Division? Not likely at this point, but I did stumble onto an older article which had some interesting news about the upcoming sequel to one of Capcom's best selling franchises.
Sometime ago in mid-January, it seems that Famitsu had an interview with Devil May Cry producer, Hiroshi Kobayashi. He revealed that despite earlier statements about DMC4 being a PS3 exclusive game, he expects Dante to make his debut on the Xbox 360 and Nintendo Wii as well.
DMC4 will also feature a brand new fighting system, aiming to make the difficulty suitable for all players. Kobayashi has included a more accessible control setup as well, allowing players to fully integrate the fighting moves and acrobatic maneuvers more easily, while keeping the difficulty at a good pace.
Kobayashi also stated that he still does not know the true power of the PS3, but he expects the game to feature the same feel and style as the trailer shown at last year's E3.
If there's one thing I hear a lot about DMC3, it's people complaining about the game's difficulty. Honestly, once you get past the learning curve of about an hour or so, the game is actually pretty easy. Let's just hope they don't make DMC4 TOO easy, like they did with Devil May Cry 2.
