Devil May Cry News

E3 lacks DMC4, Dante to make Wii and 360 appearance?

Sadly, this year's Electronic Entertainment Expo was totally devoid of anything Devil May Cry related. Shawn McPherson and I did meet up on the last day at the Capcom booth to see if the rumored surprise announcement/trailer would come to light, but as the show winded down it became obvious that Capcom really wasn't holding anything back this year, except the amount of money they spent on their booth.

So, myself and other fans were left wondering...what does Dante's future hold? Perhaps an appearance on Capcom's new Mobile Gaming Division? Not likely at this point, but I did stumble onto an older article which had some interesting news about the upcoming sequel to one of Capcom's best selling franchises.

Sometime ago in mid-January, it seems that Famitsu had an interview with Devil May Cry producer, Hiroshi Kobayashi. He revealed that despite earlier statements about DMC4 being a PS3 exclusive game, he expects Dante to make his debut on the Xbox 360 and Nintendo Wii as well.

DMC4 will also feature a brand new fighting system, aiming to make the difficulty suitable for all players. Kobayashi has included a more accessible control setup as well, allowing players to fully integrate the fighting moves and acrobatic maneuvers more easily, while keeping the difficulty at a good pace.

Kobayashi also stated that he still does not know the true power of the PS3, but he expects the game to feature the same feel and style as the trailer shown at last year's E3.

If there's one thing I hear a lot about DMC3, it's people complaining about the game's difficulty. Honestly, once you get past the learning curve of about an hour or so, the game is actually pretty easy. Let's just hope they don't make DMC4 TOO easy, like they did with Devil May Cry 2.

Well, about the difficulty. In an early interview Kobayashi expressed that he would be making the game easier. After that he started getting replies from fans saying that would ruin the game and the difficulty is what made DMC, DMC. So in a later Interview, he touched on this, and said the difficulty of the actual game would remain similar to DMC3. But the actual gameplay mechanics would be easier.

Basically, what this means is, the game itself, should hold the same challenge as DMC3. While ulling off moves like Million Stab on the other hand, will not require the player to constantly push the buttons as fast as they can, but will likey go back to how DMC1's million stab worked. Which is, attacking, and waiting for a brief pause before pushing the button again, to pull off the move.

They're doing the smart thing. They aren't making the game excatly like DMC1, and they aren't making the game exactly like DMC3. And they're all but ignoring DMC2 (they are learning from they're mistakes). They're taking what's good from both, and putting them togeter.

Hey it's not so bad if DMC 4 is sharing it's greatness with other consoles. People have to understand the cost of developing these next-gen games sometimes are in par with big budget movies, so if it helps them out then go for it. And also it's a great option to have if you can't afford a PS3. Though i'm sure the PS3 version will look somewhat better then the 360. For the Wii...i have doubts that'll go to that system, the controller is the issue. But still, there's not excuse why they didn't show a lil teaser trailer again to quench us DMC fans. But oh well TGS i wait. And i kinda like tapping alot the Triangle button for the million stab...waiting for it in DMC 1 meant you getting hit...which was bad enough. And Keiji Inafune should let his fellow teammates continue there jobs...

I don't think it makes you in danger of getting hit. It works the same way as alternating Rebellion Combo I and Combo II in DMC3, and I don't rememeber getting hit with that small pause.

Although I do agree it may make certain moves harder to preform, well, not preform, but choose between if they do it like in DMC1, where the puase decided between two different outcomes due to the length you wait.

i wonder..... i ain't saying nothing because the PS3 & the 360 is gonna look good & the game play & all is gonna be nice but the only prob is the wii.......... i just can't understand that thing.

but with all the switching of the moves & how 2 do 'em is a little good depending on which ones they switch. the timing of when u press the buttons & how long u wait 'till u press it again is all good 2 me but still i'll use my turbo controller. i'm used 2 it now & i hope they add more wepons & guns & a little more creativity 2 all the moves & attacks Dante do {& if they do add more characters do the same 2 'em 2.} all i'm gonna do is get it 4 both the 360 & PS3  then after ending them both i'll see which 1 i'll keep {knowing how much i love DMC i'll keep 'em both.} so i'll just sit back & wait 'till 'em come out 4 the 360 & the PS3.

Well, ladywidowsparda if they make more profit then they have more money to get the latest technology and hire more IT experts and they also need money to buy food (we don't want them duying do we???) anyway more consoles allows more people to enjoy the amazing power of this game!!! ;)

I don't think that DMC4 should be on any other console except PS3. Xbox 360 has their games, we have ours...

DMC4, I think, will probably never be on Wii or 360. I hope Sony helped Capcom, 'cos if they did, it can't go on either Wii or 360. But how the heck did Ubisoft make DMC3 a PC game...

I don't think DMC4 should be on the wii. I would probably hack my tv to pieces. =P

It should be on both. The PS2 would be different cause of the grapics and that should be it. I mean, they're both practically the same thing, right?

Not on the Wii.
