Introduced on November 17 2000, Devil May Cry is a collaborative effort between producer Shinji Mikami and director Hideki Kamiya. What is being dubbed as "gothic horror", it was one of the most anticipated games for the Playstation 2 in 2001.

The story of "Devil May Cry" follows the hero Dante, a half-human, half-demon who is enjoying his day-to-day life as a private investigator of the supernatural when he is accosted by a strange woman by the name of Trish.
Accostyed is a bit of an understatement, as Trish introduced herself by ramming a motercycle through Dante's front door. According to the strange woman, Mundus,the Emperor of Evil whomw as imprisoned by Dante's Father years ago has risen anew and is attempting to open the gate to hell on Mallet Island.
Accompanied by the demonic Trish, His father's keepsake, and his best friends, Ebony & Ivory, Dante embarks on a trip to save the world and put a stop to the evil Mundus for good.
